A bessa r4a arrived today. Will shoot a test roll tomorrow. Slow speeds drag a little though. Does anyone know what's the correct screw on eye piece size? It's missing it.

If it's the same as on an R3A, which I have, it is the exact same size as the Nikon FM/FE series which are easily obtainable on eBay. By my crude measurement with a ruler it looks like 19mm diameter.

Ah you are right, I think I'll have to pick up the fm replacement piece. It looks like it's about $16 on the auction site. The metal is a bit sharp at the viewfinder, so for now I stretched a rubber O-ring over it. Thanks!

Now to decide if I should get an eye cup since I'm getting this nikon part that can attach one.

The Nikon part is a rubber eyepiece (with a plane glass dioptre which you can replace with a prescription one) you should not need a cup even with specs?

It's always nice when you can add an eye cup, as it's pretty comfy and blocks a bit of stray light. I don't always shoot with glasses on, and actually prefer to use my contact lenses vs having to get specific diopters for cameras that don't have an built in adjustment. I think the bessa eye point is a high eye point type so you can place the eye fairly far away and still read in shutter speeds and see the frame lines so it may not need an eye cup. I'll debate it or maybe just get both.

I bought a Zeiss Ikon Nettar 516/2 with a 10,5 cm Tessar today . As new, no haze, no fungus, no scratches and functioning. Maybe it's a bit slow at 1s and ½ s.

Canon IIB which needs a shutter service. Quite nice build quality, terrible viewfinder even at 50mm setting.

My latest purchase is a Voigtlander Vito CLR - the postlady delivered it about 15 minutes ago. Heavier than I expected (see my comments immediately above!) but seems to work well. Test film later this week.

About two weeks ago, I travelled to Japan to get a rangefinder. Japan has an amazing selection to choose from. I looked at a Leica M5 but noted burn holes in the curtain (white patches) and it felt like it had been through some things. It was also a bit more than I wanted.

Landed a pretty good Leica M6. A few scuffs on the back but otherwise in fantastic condition.

Mansfield Eye-tronic. It is actually a Mamiya EE Super Merit rebadged by Mansfield. In good working order apart from light seals - no biggy.

Picked up a seemingly clean Yashica MG-1 at the flea market last weekend for $5. Been going through it fixing issues and adjusting it. Just one more issue (lens wobble) and it's good! Meter works well, shutter now works well, clean inside and out as well as new POD.

A grungy looking Kiev 4a complete with Jupiter 8M 50/2 lens just arrived in my mailbox.

Although the camera is visibly dirty everything appears to be in working order. Glass is clean with no scratches or haze. No oil visible on aperture blades. Shutter looks a bit dirty but seems to work properly. Film loads properly, winds on and rewinds without problem. The back fits right though one latch seems to be loose. After the first roll of film it doesn't appear that there are any light leaks.

I have loaded up some Double X and I will do some exposure testing next.

If the outside is any indication I am pretty sure it could use a good cleaning but for now I'm just going to shoot away and see how it works before I get too excited. In fact, I'll probably use Rick Oleson's information, and what I can glean from the Kiev Survival site, to do my own cleaning with this one.

A very nice Zeiss Contessa with F2.8 Opton Tessar. A gift from my brother, in nice condition just in need of a cosmetic clean up and viewfinder cleaning.
I have not used it yet so I await results but first impressions are good, nice viewfinder and very effective rangefinder. Here it is alongside a Contax ll, recently restored with new ribbons and working nicely apart from the 1/1250 which caps.

Not really a recent purchase, but I just got back my recently acquired ENSIGN 220 AUTORANGE folder from Mark Hansen (plug: classiccamera@comcast.net) who CLA'd it for me after I sent it to him for a light leak I could not find (it was around the tripod mount).
Now it definitely feels like a New RF purchase. It feels like new and the rangefinder is bright and spot-on

Just scored a recently CLA'd Leica M3 dual stroke with Summicron 50mm f2.0 DR from a APUG member.
