Your most recent RF purchase

Inherited my dad's Petri 7s Cricle-eye a few years ago and kind of got hooked on RF I think.
Got a Bessa L with 21mm f/4 Skopar (ok, technically it's not an RF if it doesn't have a Range Finder, hush), just took it on a trip to Melbourne and back along the Great Ocean Road. Scanning the Velvia now and all I can say is Wow.

Still hanging out for a Bessa R3A and 90/2.8 Tele Elmarit (or CV 40/1.4) at an affordable price.
And I should get a Retina one day, to match all those lenses I bought that *weren't* the SLR-adaptable ones (although the ones that were, like the 135/4 on my EOS 3 made some nice street shots...)
 
Woo, that was easy, snagged a Bessa R3A off ebay last night. May not have been the best bargain, they're so rare around there it's hard to know what a good price is. Also just got a Canon LTM 135/3.5 from the Classifieds here.
Can't wait to try it out on the streets...
 
I just picked up a Yashica Electro GT for $5. It looks clean but the photos showed some corrosion in the battery chamber, hopefully when it arrives I'll be able to clean it up and have it working in no time.
If I can't do that, can anyone recommend a Yashica service guy?
 
It needed a bit more help than I'm able to provide but Russ was happy to help . Thank you for the suggestion Andy. Can't wait to get it back and run some Neopan through there.

Just got a Voigtlander Bessa II with C-Skopar and Synkro-Compur. My first step into MF after 35 years of 35 mm.
 
Having bought a Bronica RF645 a couple of weeks ago I purchased a new Bessa R2A yesterday from Robert White at the discounted price. I agonised over whether to get a used M6, but decided this was a better deal in the short term (at around half the price). I also picked up a used Nokton 50/1.5 which is one of my favourite lenses from ebay to go with it.

Looking forward to getting back into film now I have space for a new darkroom...
 
After much oogling there is a Mamiya 7 with a 80mm f/4 sitting here beside me. Yeay!
 
Waiting for a Ward am 550, seller said everything in good working order, even light meter.
 
Just purchased a Retina II type 142, with a Xenon f2. Was kind of grubby, but cleaned up really well. Going to load some film and hope it works as good as it looks now.
 
Just got my Bessa R3A last night, and a 135mm finder. Still waiting on the 135mm lens (they were accidentally shipped apart, apparently), but i've loaded up some TMAX 400 and whacked on my 21mm Skopar and yellow filter, going to shoot a test roll around town tonight...
 
+1 for the Mamiya 7ii with 80mm lens. Still trying to sort out the diopter for the viewfinder window, though.
 
I am a happy owner of a cannonet 1961. I just got it from an antiquaire here in Mali, West Africa gor $2 US. the camera seems to work fine but i still didn't load film. I am first trying to learn how it works. After some hours I know how to open the film door. so advice are needed. I am loving this camera. it is built like a tank. Nothing to compare with my Sony Alpha a550.

Found a reasonably good deal on the hood for my Canon 50mm f/1.2 LTM lens. Now the camera/lens combo doesn't instantly fall forward when I set it down on a flat surface like it wanted to do with the generic hood. Not sure how I'll justify taking the darn thing out in the field though...given the small chance of finding another at a decent price.

Had a GAS attack!

I've always used SLRs — and snobbishly! They were always Contax/Yashica although I did have a Spotmatic for a little while as well.

But when I got a Contax IIa with the F2 Sonnar at a local vintage store and put a roll through it, the whisper-quiet pleasure of using rangefinders washed over me in an awesome (and financially detrimental) wave.

Here's one with the Contax and Sonnar (and a warm skylight 1B filter, the look of which I love)


Kiev IIa with what may be its original Jupiter-8, both 1956. I enjoy using this camera as much as the Contax. Build quality is superb and the size may fit my hands even better.


These are from my Retina IIIc with Xenon f2. They don't show its full potential but they show its usefulness in low light. I have some in color, taken outdoors, that are as sharp as my Planar and Distagon.

I did do a little to the Karat. The focus was stiff so I used lighter fluid and a Q-tip on the helical and it loosened up a bit after about 30 minutes of this. It's still not perfect. The lens was dirty and dusty, so I cleaned it. And the aperture/shutter blades had grease on them after I cleaned the helical, so I spent about another hour with the lighter fluid and Q-tip cleaning the blades and running through all the shutter speeds. It seems to work at all shutter speeds now, but the slow ones sound slow. I plan to send it off for a CLA before too long.

It is very nice wide open. I'm going to have fun using it. Nice web site, Mike. Very interesting history about some great cameras.
