Decided to purchase an Agfa Karat IV. Do you guys have any experience with it?

The last of the Agfa Karats, I believe, and the second to use regular 35mm cartridges, rather than the special Agfa Karat/Rapid preloaded cartridge.

This is often seen with a very nice f/2.0 Solagon mated to a Synchro-Compur. It uses the somewhat odd right-to-left film advance, I think.

Mine is packed in long-term storage for a household move, so I'm just trying to remember from memory.

Like many Agfas, yours might or might not suffer from hardened grease in the helical. And like nearly all classic cameras, you should assume that it will need to be serviced, although maybe that's already been done.

Just picked up a minty Canon 135mm f/3.5 in black with the viewfinder for $30. Hopefully put it to use this weekend.

I just got hooked on rangefinders and now own three.

I got a sweet barely used Konica auto s2 from the auction site. Didn't work but was refunded full amount and the seller didn't want it back. Spent the money on a full CLA. It's now my everyday shooter.

Also have a very nice working Yashica Lynx. Takes great photos but The focusing patch is a bit dim. I'm thinking of sending it in to be looked over.

My new jewel is a mamiya 7 with a 65mm lens. It works great and blows away any camera that I have ever owned. And it was a great bargain.

I'm loving shooting film again!

Just found a nice Contax III A.It's got the 1:1.5 lens, a meter that may need to be renewed, and a tough focus adjustment wheel. All else is pur-r-r tay! This is one good looking camera. Not as popular as in days gone by, but now in my price range. Smile, smile, smile.

Does the Konica Hexar AF count as RF? I'm guessing not, but if so, that's my recent RF purchase.

A CLA on my Retina IIIc.

It is now so much smoother to use, it is prettier, and I can see a lot more clearly through that slightly squinty viewfinder.

I would recommend Horst Wenzel without reservation.

Nikon S2 with 10.5cm f/2.5 lens and varifocal finder. I'll use it with my other S2, 50mm f/1.4, Voigtlander 25mm lens, and a Nikkor 35mm f/2.5. Now I need an 85mm. Used to have an S3 and lens, had it stolen in Zaire in 1975 -- bummer.

Just received a Kiev 4AM I purchased on #bay, described as perfect working condition. The split image RF will not work past about 6' and the focus is so hard that trying to turn the focus wheel is like running your finger down a steak knife. Will be sending it back. I also had purchased a nice small Sunpak 321 flash (also arrived today, also purchased on &bay) to use on my RF cameras, described as working perfectly. I have cleaned the contacts and put 3 sets of fresh AA's in it and it will not work. Worst *bay day I have ever had

Argus C3

Circa 1941, I think based on serial number on the body. The lens might be post war though, not sure. That makes #4 for me. Minolta HiMatic 7s, Kodak Retina 1a, Zeiss Ikonta 6X9, and now the C3. Plan to "invade" Normandy this Fall and will shoot with the C3 ala Tony Vaccaro.

Another Zorki 4, this one an export model, to live with the "Colonel's" engraved model. Looks like new, trying a roll of Fuji 200 under a Jupiter 8. Hope it works as well as it looks. Regards.

I started film photography in November and since then I've gotten a more than a handful of cameras. Started with 1970s SLRs and moved my way into rangefinders, which I think I'm starting to prefer.

This one, purchased this week, is the jewel of my collection though (despite the annoyance I mentioned in a separate thread):

5CKfu9Z.jpg

It's just a fantastic size and feels great in the hand. The Yashica Electro 35, my first rangefinder, is just too big, despite looking gorgeous. It's an attention catcher though, which has its plusses and minuses. For the truly discreet shooter, I use my Olympus XA, even though the rangefinder is nigh impossible to see sometimes.

I'm probably leaning more towards camera collecting than shooting, but cameras from before the 1980s are so beautiful in their own right.

My fourth C3, all my RF's are Argus's (?) Save for one lower end Tower.

I think I might look for something Russian.
