Yellowing Of Pentax 1970s Lens

I de-yellowed a 1971 Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8 lens this way. Spectacular lens, by the way.

I know, it is my favorite 55mm lens. Works superb on my Sony A7RII also.

Andy, with proper UV light source it will take days and with this Ikea LED lamp weeks to clear it up. Nothing will happen in a few hours.
But there is long winter in head of us, why not..

the 105 I bought was very yellow. I used the Ikea lamp pictured on the previous pageand it cleared it about 90%. There is still some there and I'd be a little hesitant to use it on color film if I went to White Sands NM (down the road from me), but since I don't really shoot color film its really a non issue for me. I doubt it would be very noticable for general purpose color photography. I could probably get it to clear the rest of the way if I left it in the NM sun for a while but I worry about overheating and causing some kind of damage.
