I like the Retina lenses. I have a Retina Reflex S with 28mm f4, 35mm f2.8, 50mm f2.8, 85mm f4 and 135mm f4 although I don't use them as often as I would like. A couple years ago I bought a DKL to Nikon mount adapter and can use the lenses on my Nikon Df. They actually perform well. I do have a problem in resisting buying vintage lenses. I already had a 135mm f4 for my Retina, but found an excellent condition one at an antique store for $5. As far as my AE-1 is concerned, I may end up keeping it due to the lens issue. The day won't be a total loss as far as re-selling stuff goes, because I got a Canon 24mm f2.8 EF autofocus lens for an additional $25. I will definitely sell that to offset the costs of both the camera and the 24mm.

The Schneider Kreuznach lenses are great lenses with nice rendering, bokeh, and contrast. I think a lot of Rolliecords and even a few Rolliflexes used them. I adapt my S-K lenses to my Fuji XT-2 and I also have an adapter that allows me to use them on some of my M42 cameras (some work some interfere).

I'm wondering if they might have been intended/labelled as lenses for the Instamatic Reflex.

That is possible as this is basically a Retina Reflex for 126 film, plus there were a few other other odd cameras that took the DKL mount also. Mine is not labelled as anything. Most Retina lenses were labelled as such (i.e., Retina-Xenon), but I suspect not all were.

1947 Eastman View 2D 8x10 I recently cleaned and reassembled. Fitted with a 10" Wide Field Ektar. Hardware cleaned, lubed and adjusted so everything is now tight and 100% functional. The wood was treated with Howard "Restore-A-Finish" which restores the original color of the wood without refinishing it. Not looking to restore it, just bring it back to life. This was fitted with a 5x7 back, but I found a matching 8x10 back from Jim Galli here on the forum which fit perfectly.

Before I posted my answer, I wandered a bit through the internet for pictures of the Instamatic Reflex. In about half of them, the writing at the front of the lens just has Schneider Kreuznach - no "Retina".

The only issue is the lens. If you look through it, there doesn't appear to be any fungus, but at the edges of the glass there are reflections from inside the lens that make it appear as if the inside of the barrel is scratched.
If these were scratches in or fungus on the glass, you could easily see this by looking from behind through the lens at a uniform, light surface. Otherwise it is reflection originating from the barrel (as it seems to be).

That's the tricky thing with guarantee cards. One is looking into an uncertain future... for ones camera and for the manufacturer...

I'd been talking recently about getting an m42 camera simply because of the large and fairly inexpensive range of lenses.
It was my birthday a few days ago, my friend has given me a Fujica ST605 and a couple of lenses; a Takumar 135mm 3.5, an Optomax 35 3.5 and a set of extension tubes. I've since added a Flektogon 4/20 to the kit.

The meter doesn't work (the needle goes to + and stays there) but I'm not too bothered about that. I've had two rolls through it, the first was mostly a quick check over and messing about with the tubes. The second roll was shot entirely with the 4/20, mostly test shots around the house and the local park. I'm absolutely in love with this lens. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect with a 40 year old super wide, but I'm very pleased with it. I've done a few 8x10 prints and I'm quite happy with them.Looking forward to doing some proper shooting with it.

Last week I broke down and bought my first Leica. An M3 from 1961 in decent, user condition.

My brother-in-law has generously loaned me a recent 50mm Summicron-M and I hope to get out of work early enough tonight to put a couple of rolls through it while there’s still some daylight.

My latest one is a Minolta 700si. It isn't as old as some I have seen here, but at 20+ years old, I think it is close enough. Through the years I have owned many cameras. The first fully featured slr I ever bought was a 700si I bought the year it came out. I used it for many years, but along the way sold it when I switched to Nikon. I was looking online at shopgoodwill.com and saw one with a Minolta 50mm f1.7, Minolta 100-300 apo tele and a Sigma 28-105. I took a gamble on it at around $44 including shipping. It arrived Friday. I just loaded a roll of some old Ilford XP2 to test it out, but so far it seems to work fine except for the eye start autofocus. I usually kept that turned off on my previous one, so I won't miss having it work. This is one of the few camera models I have ever bought, after having sold the first one. It was mainly bought for nostalgia, but will be put to use. Another old one I bought for similar reasons was a copy of my first slr. That one is an Olympus OM88 with power focus. It was a fun camera to learn on and I had the manual adapter to get the most of the camera.

Sad news, my newly acquired Minolta 700si has rewind problems. I pressed the rewind button a few frames before the end of the roll so I could drop it off to get developed and it sounded like it rewound. Upon opening the back, I discovered that it did not rewind. Since the film was already ruined, I re-loaded it and went to the end of the roll to see if automatic rewind would work. It didn't. So, I now have a Minolta 700si camera to sit on a shelf. I will eventually pick up another body to use the lenses on.

I picked up an early model Ricoh "35" for the princely sum of $4.00. It seems to be working perfectly after my first roll through it. Wish I knew why I keep buying old cameras when I need to get rid of a bunch.......

Olympus XA2 with A11 flash - a $4.82 thrift store find.
The batteries in both the flash and the camera were long dead, and so far that seems to have rendered the flash unusable.
But the camera seems to work well:

Minolta Weathermatic Dual 35 which I believe will not engage the second lens properly but the 35mm lens works

A surprisingly clean Petri FTE with 35, 55 and 135mm lenses. Shutter was sticky below 1/60th, but after dry firing the camera for about 10 minutes, it freed-up and is working fine. Seems a capable, but very basic camera. Haven't tested the meter yet...

My Petri fetish is becoming unhealthy, but it's a cheap thrill!

Earlier this evening I've snagged this beautiful Olympus Trip 35 for 14$CAN at a flea market.
The aperture blades wouldn't move nor would the red flag but I took a chance. 2 Hours & 1fl oz of Ronsonol later, it works fine :D
I'll need to re-adjust the focus but I'll do that another time as it's getting late.

Very nice. I've got my eye on one of these. Can you elaborate on the usage of lighter fluid please? I've heard about using it to clean a camera but not sure where to use it and how.
