Zeiss Icarex 35 S TM (paired with my old Ultron). I ran a roll through it and got some nice shots, but I can already see that the shutter is having issues like my old 35S did. May put this one on hold for a while.

Bought exactly the same camera (with the Zeiss-Ikon-Voigtlander badge) a pair of years ago with great enthusiasm and high expectations, however it turned out that the shutter curtain had pinholes. I brought it to my technician in order to have the curtains (which I had to import from Japan) replaced and it's there since at least one year: he first ruined some parts when disassembling, then made several mistakes with the meter and asked me to purchase the tech manual from Germany, mounted the self-timer top-down, then the shutter times and the meter went off-calibration, etc etc etc. Still there. I wish better luck to your unit!

I haven’t had a chance to put a roll through my F3 but from what I can tell everything seems okay. I’m looking forward to making a lot of pictures with this thing.

Thank you! It seems like I've made the right choice with this camera. I have been making pictures digitally attempting to emulate the film look in Photoshop but it isn't the same. I have a few bricks of HP5, some Portra on the way, all I need is a lens and some time to go out and make photographs. I've been browsing several threads that interests me so I thought it was about time I made an account. I'm glad to be here.

The F3 has one little quirk, maybe you know about it, which is that until the frame counter reaches 1 the shutter speed is fixed at 1/80 and the meter is off. From frame 1 and beyond, the camera operates normally.

Nikon did this to prevent excess battery drain while advancing the film prior to the first usable frame.

It's worth finding the F3 manual online if you don't have one already.

I had a 7S, at the time I had a Leica IIIG, overall I liked the 7 much better, while the IIIG had better build quality the 7 loaded much more easy and built in frame finders means I could use a flash without a bracket when using the 90mm or 35mm lens.

I've been gifted a Polaroid Spectra by a couple of elder friends. Apparently, It only served a few times for insurance claims, there are still 6 shots in it.

I have one, and bought a film pack. It really struggled to spit the pictures out, and I understand this is common. Usually I would take a shot then had to gently (or not too gently) tap the bottom of the camera against a solid surface to get it to spit out. Based on recommendations online, I repacked a film pack with already used pictures and ran them through again. Over time it got a little better. This is based on the new Spectra instant films for Polaroid (they are thicker than the original Polaroid materials), not original Polaroid materials which should work fine.

To be honest, I like my Practikas better anyway (lighter, vertical metal shutter). I bought this more for sentimental reasons (it was my first 35mm SLR).

Konica Minolta Dimage A-2 8.0 megapixel DSLR. This is an amazing little camera: Flip screen and a rotatable electronic viewfinder, great lens(28-200mm).

It's the shutter, the same made by Thornton-Pickard.

I continue to find nice, inexpensive examples of Japanese Rangefinder Cameras to enjoy. This Petri 1.9 (type II) camera with auxiliary lenses, filters and a Speed light is my latest find and it was little more than the cost of a few rolls of film.

Very nice set, not often that you can find a complete kit. Petri Rangefinders were better made than their SLR and had very good optics. Does the meter work.

Thank you. There is no meter on the 1.9 until you get into the EB (Electronic Brain) version or the Model 7. Actually I prefer no meter; makes for a cleaner design!

Ironically, it occurred to me that I could use m Accura ground glass device to check the focus of the auxiliary lenses against their printed scales, but it turns out the aperture on this camera is too small for the GG adapter to fit! I'll have to measure this camera's aperture to see what the dimensions are and see if Petri was working to some arbitrary size.



Another humorous fact; The kit is totally complete... except for an original lens cap. I would have to pay MORE for the lens cap on Fleabay than I did for the entire kit. Crazy...

Just picked up a Nikon F4. With the price of used bodies online I also picked up two spares for next to nothing, just to have as replacements or parts cameras. Very happy with the purchase so far. I’ll be looking for an F3 during my upcoming Tokyo trip just to keep my Nikon collection growing.

You lucky person . I have the lowly G617, I adore that camera. I had a broken bone in my foot last few months of last year . I drove around in my little Subaru taking snapshots out the drivers side window. I love it. I'm surprised the fixed 105 F 8 seems to work fine at f16 without a center filter . There was a GX617 camera, 4 lens outfit, perfect shape on Ebay . I bid up to 5 grand, my wife was freaking out. I knew I wouldn't get it, it sold for just under 9 grand which I thought was a great price . The longest lens was a 360mm ??
So much fun.
