Recently got a Sears TLS 1000 MX (rebadged Mamiya MSX 1000), a just needs CLA as the mirror hangs at the slower shutter speeds (1s, 1/2s, & 1/4s). Other than that, the faster speeds sound/work fine & the meter works.

I mean I was given shoelaces so I need to buy shoes, one doesn't buy new shoes without getting a new suit. Nor does one wear a new suit without a new shirt and tie. And once you've got a new outfit it just isn't done to drive around in an old jalopy. And what'll it look like if I pull a brand new car into the shack that I call a house?

Someone gave me shoelaces so I bought a house.

Yes, yes; I was agreeing.

I once found a nice Ricoh lens cap, so I had to buy the camera to plug the hole in it...

Yes,

I got a Konica lens in a box of lenses. I think the lens is lonely, it needs a camera.

Heh, I can relate to this! I have a metal lens hood for a Nikkor 20mm f/3.5 UD lens, and I've wanted to get one of those lenses to fit the hood ever since. Only thing that's stopped me is I just can't seem to pull the trigger at the prices they sell for anymore.

Hmm... I wonder what we'd get if we gave PE a box of Kodachrome II...

IIRC the Vito CL has a 3-point distance scale on the lens barrel for Portrait; Group and Landscape = simple scale focussing.
The Vito CLR has a coupled rangefinder.
Mike Butkus has the manual in his library - it's for free but if you find this manual useful how about a small donation to Mike ...

I have a TLS1000 MX and an MSX1000 as a result of overexuberance on shopgoodwill.com and found out while checking them out that the two differ slightly - the TLS1000 MX has a bottom center-weighted meter pattern, while the MSX1000 has a limited-area, or semi-spot meter measuring only the bottom-center area of the frame. Interesting .....

Just picked up a Tower 27, an exakta mount mamiya that seems like a solid camera to use some of my old exakta lenses on.

Yeah, from what I've read the TLS 1000 MX is a rebadged MSX 1000, but by looking at the specs it seems like it's more of a DSX 1000 rebadge minus the Spot-metering option switch.

The only thing it needs is new light seals, a good CLA as at the slowest shutter speeds (1s, 1/2s, 1/4s, & 1/8s) the mirror hangs (have to move to B to get the mirror down), and there's some material under the mirror thats starting to curl (not sure if its a know problem with them?)

I've added a few more cameras to my stable since picking up the nifty Trip 35 in 2017.

A lovely Rollei 35 LED (the meter is dead but the sunny 16 method has been superb!) and an Olympus Muji. The flash on this little pocket-rocket likes to turn on under all lighting situations, so I just need to remember to switch it off, lest I drain the battery for no good reason.

Both do not miss a beat as far as exposure is concerned - love them to bits.

Also landed an Arca-Swiss 6x9 and a Supercolor Onestep Polaroid. Not yet had a chance to shoot the AS, but the Polaroid has surprised me totally with it's results on the Polaroid Originals film (not quite as good as the "real" stuff, but not bad considering they started from scratch.) Looking forward to grabbing some B&W for the Polaroid, and a nice WA for the AS.

Nikon N6006 for $20 shipped with a 6 month warranty. Hard to pass that one up. I already had the lens.

That strap is one of the most comfortable one's I own. Might need a few more for my TLRs.

I just got a Minolta Hi-Matic 9 from eBay. No one else was bidding and I got it for $12.50. It's in excellent condition but I'm not sure if the meter works. I ordered a new battery and hoping for the best.

I have been wanting a Petri Flex 7 for a long time and finally found a copy that wasn't a crazy price. Not perfect, but after cleaning and exercising the shutter for a while, it appears to be working to the right speeds (by ear). Haven't tried the meter yet, but I don't really care that much if it works or not. It's my Contaflex Bullseye substitute; no way am I going to attempt to buy one of those outrageously overpriced cameras...

This is an unusual camera, indeed. Is the meter a CDS cell? There is an indicator on the top cover about the meter being off. And on front, a cover looks like a battery may fit underneath.

Yes it is a CDS cell meter; supposedly the "first camera equipped with an exposure meter linked to both the aperture and shutter in the world". See http://www52.atwiki.jp/petri/ under Petri Flex 7 entry. You may have to use Google Translate if you don't read Japanese!)

The meter turns on when you cock the camera and turns off when the shutter is fired.

It is, of course, non-TTL by it's nature. There was only one lens (f-stops are de-clicked and a massive indexing lever is affixed to the aperture ring) ever made for the camera with the dedicated aperture/meter linkage; all other Petri CC lenses must be used in the stopped-down mode. There is a Petri Bayonet to M42 adapter that I have, but unfortunately, I have yet to find a single screw mount lens slim enough to take advantage of this adapter! All of my lenses hit the shoulder of the Petri Bayonet collar prior to fully seating, so infinity focus is not possible. I don't know what lenses they were thinking of when they made this adapter, but I don't have them...

Even the Petri Bayonet Mount CC Auto Lenses like fit the FTE will not work with this camera, as they post-date the Petri Flex 7 and an aperture indexing pin added to the mount for TTL operations, hits an internal light baffle and will not allow the lenses to seat!

I think this is a good illustration of why companies like Nikon, Minolta and Pentax rapidly overtook the market and killed Petri; they built SYSTEMS that were largely forward and backward compatible.

Petri seems to have floundered around, trying various improvements but not thinking of basic backward or forward integration. The cameras, at least the earlier ones like the Petri Penta (Petriflex V in USA) and the rangefinders, were well built, solid performers, but as they lost market share due to the strategic innovations of the other Japanese camera makers, it seems they just floundered due to a lack of cohesive planning.

The Petri Bayonet to M42 adapter is used with a tube set for macro ; the 3 tubes are in M42 and a M42 to Petri adapter is also included.
So you can use the set with Petri or M42 lenses.
An other Petri Flex 7 does exist, with only cosmetical differences on the 3 sides of the camera you show.
IMO, this camera is interesting for a collector, and no more...

The M42 adapter was not advertised as being restricted to the use of extension tubes but was supposed to adapt other Petri M42 lenses to the camera body, as evidenced by this page from a Petri Penta manual:

As for your summary dismissal of the camera; that defines you more than the camera...

I would love to see the sensor of that meter. As others I am puzzled by the sensor size.

EDIT:
So far I only came across CdS sensors of 10mm or less. But a little bit of googling showed larger ones.
