I am indeed happy to have a daughter with such good sense, and I look very much forward to trying the camera out...
Amazing - you are truly blessed!

Theo's right - something's going right w/ that girl.

I've just bought two Penax ESII bodies - both parts cameras that I'm hoping that my camera tech can make one functional body out of the two. I had one around 1983 and decide to get another one for auto exposures using a macro bellows.

And with my SMC Takumar lenses I get open aperture metering.

I have one of these but the mirror is stuck in the up position.

Truly a new old

I just received my three ”Minox III from their CLA. They may be old but they now look brand new and should work for another 50+ years. While the tiny negative is not appropriate for landscapes thry are certainly the least burdensome cameras to carry and therefore can be available all the time. The pics are more permanent than those from a cell phone.

Was that from DAG? Don repaired a IIIs for me earlier this year and it works perfectly.

If you please, share the name of your Minox service person. I have a few to send in. A friend referred me to DAG, but he hasn't actually sent his Minox in for service yet.

Acquired as Christmas gifts: A Minox B for my brother, plus a Minox IIIs and a Minox 35 EL for me.

I also got an Agfa Clack and a Nikon One-Touch Zoom AF.

As far as I know, DAG is one of very few people in the world who can repair a Minox. He has had the training at Minox and has the spare parts. He repaired a IIIs I got from a friend; I also have another IIIs and III that need a CLA.

Yes, Theo. The maestro himself. I have had these cameras for about 35-40 years myself so I am sure that they have never been serviced before. The more I learn about these and other high end cameras I appreciate the extremely high quality of the metals and other materials used in their fabrication. These cameras will certainly be going strong for another 50 years and will outlast me.

Very nice catch on that Nikkormat FT2 - the flea markets in W. Va. are clearly much better than what I've got here!

I found a sweetheart but didn't want to post it all again here.

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

I just picked this kit up last week on ebay. It's a Canon EOS Elan 7 that includes the camera, battery grip, Canon 50mm lens, Canon 28-90mm, Quantaray 100-300mm lens, remote, camera bag (a Nikon bag which works great with my Nikon f65 kit), several filters, assorted lens hoods, fresh batteries and even a roll of film. Everything appears to be in mint condition, I am still in the process of running that test roll through her. Fingers crossed. This joins my two Canon t70 kits and my Nikon F65 kit.

I just bought a Pentax K1000 with a 50mm F1.7 lens:smile:The Hong Kong version.

A solid little box in the hand. Easy to see why people like them.

Already have a 85F2 and it's a very sweet little setup for so little money.

All told I spent more on a Nikkor 85F1.8 recently.

A 50 and an 85 are all I ever use ..

ETA This little system is intended for a 11 year old niece

In 1978, my wife bought a secondhand Pen FT and a couple of lenses at the Fox Talbot shop on the Tottenham Court Road. She didn't use it for more than a couple of years, so it was fun this week to clean it up and take it out for a walk. Scanning is a bit of a chore with so many negatives!

I have a CRIS adaptor, but can't find a 386 battery locally, so I ended up guessing the exposures, or using the Digisix and things went so well I found myself buying a Pen F (brighter viewfinder, no meter) from evilBay.

Very nice.
That particular shop doesn't exist any more. It changed names a few times.
Last I heard of it, it was part of Jessops and now it is a coffee shop.
When it was Tecno, I bought a few very nice things from it. When Jessops bought it in 2000, it quickly reduced the 2nd hand section until it was gone. The same happened to the other Tecno (Fox Talbot) in the Strand.
You can use a ZA675 hearing aid battery with an O ring to centre it.

My "new" back-up F2. It's not a as pretty ColColt's find, but I'm sure this one has some stories to tell. At least with this one I won't worry about getting down and dirty with it like I do with my other one.

A wise attitude and still a great camera!

That's a nice still-life photo. Love that equipment. I have to say that Olympus has had outstanding people doing industrial design for their products.
