What's your latest new old camera ? (Part 2)

I bought back my RB67 that I sold over a year ago today. I walked into the shop I had traded it into to browse around and possibly do some trading, and I saw that it was still there. So I worked out a trade and took it home, I honestly don't even know why I got rid of it in the first place, and like an old friend or lost love I've been missing it ever since. I hiked about two miles with it this evening and it just felt right having it back, my photography wasn't the same without it.

K4B2 should have a threaded cable release socket. I can't tell for sure if yours does.

I also thought that at first too but, if you read Rolleiclub's info carefully, you'll notice that they have a small note stating that some of the K4B's serial numbers are shared with the RF111A model xD

In fact, I got pretty confused about this so I dug a little deeper and came to the conclusion that she is a K4B2 because:

-Taking lens is a Carls Zeiss Jena Tessar (RF111A is Carl Zeiss Tessar);
-Shutter and aperture dials are black (RF111A both are grey);
-Frank and Heidecke name under taking lens (RF111A under viewing lens);
-Shutter release button has cable release thread ( RF111A no cable thread);
-She weights ~940g without film witch is close to the K4B's reference weight of 928g (RF111A reference weight is 850g that's a pretty big difference there).

These are all consistent with Rolleiclub's description of the K4B2 model, the only thing that still leaves some doubts is the fact that when it comes to the K4B2 model in particular, they don't state serial number intercrossing.

However, inside the K4B model series, she still has more similarities with the K4B2 model than the original K4B witch is much closer to the RF111A model than what mine seems to be (again, according to Rolleiclub's description).

I could be wrong though, these things are old, the records aren't perfect and it seems that some inconsistencies exist. If someone with a deeper knowledge about Rolleis could help a bit, that would be great!

K4B2 should have a threaded cable release socket. I can't tell for sure if yours does.

ETA Never mind, see that you already knew that.

ETA I think that some of the early postwar models have some inconsistencies. For example, this one of mine has many of the earmarks that would identify it as a K4B2, except for the Franke and Heidecke being printed under the viewing lens, which according to research was done only on the RF111A. Also, the cable release socket is unusual, but perhaps this has been damaged or modified.

My G.A.S. flared up again this morning, and since I'm currently obsessed with cheap rangefinders I bought a new in the box FED 5 from a U.S. seller. Yes I know it's a FED, but for $50 I couldn't pass it up.

Thanks! I'm forcing myself to abandon the tools of my professional trade in my personal life. I'd been using an FM2n for 35mm film, but even that required me to dip into a bag of lenses (MF Nikkor & Rokinon) that I usually take when on assignment. The S2 is going to free me from even considering that.

After much sitting on the fence for years I finally pulled the trigger and got a G2 in titanium with 35 F2 lens. I really wanted black version but was way out of my budget. After about 4 rolls using the G2 I'm hooked. It is one of my favorite cameras right now. Having owned a Rolleiflex 2.8F, Nikon FM2n, GR1, two GR1V's, a contax T2, two T3's, a Leica IIIc, an M2, an M5,
Three M6TTL's, an M7, Olympus Pen W, Pen S, Om1n Om2n. The G2 is by far my favorite!!!!

Two old pastic cams from the 50's in a local auction: a Diana and an Empire Baby with the original boxes (together for $22).
These will look nice in my cabinet. I especially like the Empire Baby. I'll even use it sometimes when I can get hold of a 127 roll film cheaply.

Canon II rangefinder setup, bought for the 35/2.8 included to compare with the 35/1.8 I bought here a little while ago. Pancake lenses are one of the few styles I haven't tried. Might make a nice camera (Canon 7) even better for travel.

If I remember well from the time I had one, it uses the PX625.
You should be able to use a zinc-air ZA675 with an O ring to centre it available at Boots or if you are lucky at a Poundland.

Olympus XA. Found it in the junk camera bin at a thrift store. Batteries cost more than the camera!
took it out on a cold day after the car had been parked for a while, temps near freezing and meter correctly but didn't fire. Took battery out and rubbed it between my hands to warm it up while putting camera in a pants pocket to warm it up and I was able to get a couple pictures before it got too cold again! My next new old camera will NOT need a battery to trip the shutter!

A couple F bodies. Black F FTn with F2 cosmetics and F-36 motor drive that I traded a seldom-used 20/3.5 Nikkor-UD for, and a chrome F for $18.50, plus shipping. Black body has a slightly erratic meter and the usual chipped casting, which was repaired by one of the shops in NYC many years ago. Chrome body was sold as is due to the usual slow speed escapement issues. Got the camera fully functional within 5 minutes of monkeying with it. Fires on all shutter speeds now, and sounds normal on 1 second. Just kept firing it on 1/4, then 1/2, and finally 1 second while tapping on the inner baseplate while it was sticking open on 1 second. Finally, it worked itself free and fires reliably. Chrome body has somewhat better cosmetics.

Picked up an Olympus OM-2 with 2 lenses . The prime lens is a 1.4 , very nice. Shot a short test roll today. Just finished developing it. Crystal clear and the metering is spot on. Seems to be a well built, light weight camera that should get lots of use.
