Fomabrom Var.IV. 123 is suitable for Bromoil and Lith printing, but recently discontinued.
I ordered 4 packs of different sizes to stock up for future Bromoil printing:
- 30x40 / 50 Sheets
- 24x30 / 50 Sheets
- 18x24 / 50 Sheets
- 13x18 / 25 Sheets

From the recent newsletter from Tim Rudman: "Foma has recently gone to great lengths to improve its warm tone paper emulsions in terms of lith printing (I have published the all-important batch numbers in previous newsletters), but now they have announced the discontinuation of one product - Fomabrom Var.IV. 123, which Foma report was unsuitable for conventional printing, being mostly used for Bromoil - for which they now suggest Fomabrom N 115 and Fomatone MG 133 as alternatives." (See also:http://www.timrudman.com).

Production has stopped, but there is still some stock around. On the website of www.fotoimpex.de: "We purchased the remaining stock of this discontinued paper to ensure availability for lith (MLD) process and the bromoil process users."

(see also the separate thread: (there was a url link here which no longer exists))

Not really a purchase, since the only cash spent will be on postage, but am trading a lens I really like, but haven't used since last Presidents' Day Weekend, for an F with F-36 drive and cordless pack. Probably can snipe another 20/3.5 Nikkor-UD with AI ring later on and get it cheaply.

Discontinued? Didn't know. How was it? I have Fomabrom graded paper (grade 3), and Fomatone MG warm paper and I think they are very good among baryt papers.

Today I bought an Argus C44 simply because after having been in the Argus Museum in Ann Arbor Michigan last Saturday I felt that I needed one. I also bought a Canon 35-70 F4 AF lens, because I thought it would be kind of neat to use. It's also a bit of a conversation piece.

Is that essentially the same 360mm Tele-Xenar that I just bought ? Although mine's in. Compound 3 shutter and covers 7"x5". Cab you post a picture.

Ian

Here you go.

With the helicoid and without.

6th Sense? My enlarger bulb gave up the ghost today, after several prints... Luckily I just ordered the spare one less than a week ago and could keep on printing. Note to self: always keep some spare bulbs...

Thanks, so essentially the same lens, mine's rougly the same vintage and overall length as your first image but obviously with a Compond shutter in the middle. presumably used on a Speed Graphic the lens in the first image covers 7x5 & 5x4.

I know one of the Leitz Hektor lenses covers 5x4, I wonder what the Zeiss (CZJ) 300mm Olympic Sonnar actually covers.

Schneiders' Tele-Xenar page has a link to the 360 ƒ5.5 specs and yep, it's rated for 5x7. But I bought it for my P67 and maybe a full frame digital at some point down the road.

My G.A.S. flared up again this morning, and since I'm currently obsessed with cheap rangefinders I bought a new in the box FED 5 from a U.S. seller. Yes I know it's a FED, but for $50 I couldn't pass it up.

I'm probably buying another C330 as my current one is starting to look a bit ratty.

Ordered a 50mm lens for the OM-1 from Austin, TX. A 52mm to 55mm lens adapter from Hong Kong. And a 55mm hood from China. Just can't beat the prices on this stuff.

A bargain Mamiya C33 which arrived yesterday.
Needs new seals, aperture is stuck closed, sticky shutter, obvious heavy, HEAVY use.
(sigh)
While attempting to restore this beast, I will take solace imagining all of the famous people it must have shot.....or all of the nudes.
Whatever, it was obviously worked to death.
