Several small stainless tanks for 120 reels so I don't have to logisticate the four-reel tank, plus a 10x12 easel. I've got a 100' can and some 120 rolls of FP4+ on hold until I return from another trip.

Now that I'm dunking sheet film in addition to rolls, my measly pair of clips was woefully inadequate. And using chip clips from the kitchen drawer was just a temporary fix. Arrived today: 12 more stainless steel clips, 6 unweighted and 6 weighted.

New photo gear

My 6 x 6 neg carrier for my Beseler 23 arrived today. Used but not abused. About $35 used shipped, versus $110. new. Gott in Himmel! Anyhow now I can print negs from my YashicaMat and my Bronica S2a. Lovin' that big negative!

A NuArc VFC-22 vacuum easel with full pump assembly and near-perfect blanket/seal. From a very nice fellow APUG member. The unit can handle up to 16x20 negatives, and is itself in marvelous condition. Had some unfortunate shipping damage issues with UPS. But none of those were in any way the seller's fault. I've never been a big UPS fan.

It's going to require some unexpected post-shipping effort to get the unit back up to speed. But nothing I can't handle and it should be completely uncompromised when I am done. Did I say I'm not a UPS fan?

Looking forward to 8x10 contact prints without the curled and wavy FB paper issues.

Also kicking around the idea of replacing the existing glass with a new sheet of AN glass. Cost appears to be in the US$150 range. But I'm not sure if that's a valid approach. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone doing this before. Need to do some research.

A distressed purchase is something one buys because one has to buy it, no matter the situation or cost at the time of purchase. One hopes that everyone else—husbands, wives, significant others (and your bank account)—will understand. But in the end it doesn't matter if they do or don't. You're buying it anyway and will apologize later. Because you know you'll never have another opportunity.

It can be an item that shows up on eBay or the aftermarket after many years of waiting. Or an item that is the final piece of a special kit. Or an item where one does not wish to settle for a used sample down the road. Or even an expensive bucket list item. But most often it's simply an item that has been discontinued by the manufacturer, and this is your last and final chance to get one.

So... 50 more rolls of Provia 400X 120. This to be added to the 35 rolls previously purchased. To be added to the 40 rolls purchased before that. To be added to the 5 rolls I already had in the freezer.

That adds up to 130 rolls in deep freeze. At my rate of usage over Provia 100F this should provide a comfortable cushion until Ferrania can bring their own version online. And if the unforeseen happens and they can't, then it's a multi-year stash for me to enjoy.

Ordered a replacement 75mm enlarger lens today. I tested the original lens that came with the Durst M600 that I recently purchased, and found it "too glowing" for normal prints. It may be fine for artsy-fartsy stuff.
