Stone- The WT Semi Matte is a great paper for hand-coloring, if you ever want to give that a try.

I just may

I would think the photo rag paper would be a really great handy coloring medium as well being that it's rag paper, Woodberry observe the color wouldn't you think?

Rag? Do you mean you are using liquid emulsion? Or Ilford Art 300? If it's Ilford Art 300, you may have to do some testing. The cotton rag is covered with a surface to which they apply the emulsion. It preserves the texture of the paper, but adds a sheen reminiscent of RC papers. The hand coloring oils may or may not adhere well.
If it's liquid emulsion, I'm sure you could go and do whatever you want. Check out Emil Schildt some time and his hand colored portraits. Very interesting things he does.

Hi Thomas,

ART 300 takes paint watercolour / oil etc very well indeed.

I've done some coloring of the 300. It works well, but it's easier to learn on a smooth paper. Coloring the 300 is sort of like buttering an English Muffin. Lots of nooks and crannies...

That's great to know! I have a set of Marshall photo oil paints that I've only tried on standard matte paper so far.

Yea, it's Art 300, I like it a lot, but I do wish it had LESS nooks and crannies.... It's a little TOO textury to me. I wish it were more like the BACK of the paper, a little smoother with less sheen.

Great to know, thanks Simon!

Also any chance for a less texture covered version in the future? I really like the BACK of the paper a little texture but smooth and more matte

Also...

2 sheets 2.25x3.25 of HP5+ stand in Rodinal 1:100
1 sheet 2.25x3.25 of FP4+ stand in Rodinal

Both in my old trusty FR tank.

I truly thought the smallest 2509n reel compression was this size but I was wrong.

1 roll of Lomography Orca 110 in Ilfotec HC 1:31 for 6mins

Thanks to... Ahhh I forget his name spelling ... Derko? From... Germany? Who sent me an old 110 JOBO reel, it's the old 1000 series type but with some tape it fit my 1500 series tank. Still looking for one more, but one is better than none!

Dear Stone,

No, ART 300 depends on its very special base supplied to us by Hahnemeuhle, it is'nt going to change.

Sorry.

You can always use Liquid Light on any paper you'd like. Some of the hand-painted nudes in my Gallery posts were done that way.

careful eddie, you are playing with a loaded gun with the safety off or the eqiv. of photographic crack

liquid light is dangerously addictive

Yes, it is. I always have a few bottles in the 'fridge. Based on Emil's (Gandolfi) recommendation, I have some Foma, too, but haven't used it yet.

yep, a couple of vials on hand ... you never know when you will need a emulsion-fix

Ok, last request, have you ever looked at the FB Warmtone Semi-Matte after washing it and then immediately squeegee the print, the surface of the paper looks awesome!!! This disappears after it dries.

Can you make that happen? LOL

I've just contacted a roll of 8 6x9s on brand new HP5+ from a very old Bessa onto very old Velox (6½x9) in ID36 1:1 + benzotriazole. Again.

Hemispherical when they come out of the box, flat in the chemicals, hemispherical again when they are dry

I finally did the roll of Delta 100 I shot in the Grampians, 1 hour of 1:100 Rodinal with a few inversions occasionally.
Negs look great, especially in the deep fog climbing up The Pinnacle, can't wait to scan and see what they're like when I get home.

Developed a roll of HP5+ (rated 400) and a roll of Ilford Delta 3200 (rated at 1000) in Rodinal 1+25. The films were not processed together
