I never shoot a film more than once, unless I am double exposing...

On my most recent trip over to the Island (a quick day trip to shoot at Parksville, Fanny Bay and Cathedral Grove), carting only the Hasselblads (a real rarity for a guy who loves his 35mms, leaving the Nikons at home), I shot about nine rolls of PanF Plus (my b&w landscape film of choice) as well as four rolls of E100G and a roll-and-a-half (or thereabouts) of E100VS. Odd how the Blads, mounted on a tripod, force you to slooow down and consider what you shoot...

Two rolls of 120 Fuji Reala, a film I've been using so long and so often that I can pretty much envisage what the prints will look like when I shoot it.

More like a limited budget...lol!

I went back to the Island last weekend and drove up to Cathedral Grove to do some more black and white shooting (2 1/4, PanF Plus, of course). Also did a bit of shooting at Port Alberni (again, black and white), a place that I have always passed by on my way to the coast. I seem to have more or less "switched" to black and white for the winter months by default: on this excursion, I loaded four A12 backs (2 PanF plus, 1 E100G, 1 E100VS), and carried several additional rolls in my bag. At the end of the day, I had shot five rolls of PanF Plus, six images on the E100G, and only three on the E100VS. Maybe next trip I will just leave the color at home....

Provia 100F:

Golden Gate Bridge at Dusk by Thomas N. Abbott, on Flickr

This was fun because it had gotten so dark that I had to time exposures with the timer app on my iPhone. This was the first time I ran such long exposures on film and used the "T" switch on my Mamiya RZ 110mm lens.

Provia performed really well IMO, as all ten frames of the roll were useable exposures.

As always, processed at home with Kodak E-6 chemicals.

That is a NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE shot....love it!

I just sent out an old roll of Porst ChromeX (Fujichrome) today. Earlier this week I got a roll of Velvia 50 back. Both were shot in a Nikon F2S. The Velvia was processed by Dwayne's with a Fuji mailer and the Porst was sent to The Slideprinter in Denver.

I just ran several rolls of old stock (10 years?) 120 Fomapan 400 while testing an old Mamiya 645 and my Rapid Omega 200. The negatives are so curly that they're tricky to scan. Results look good.

I almost shot 12 sheets of 4"x5" Kodak Tmax 100 to test my new soft lens, then the light got soft so I packed it in and will wait for another day. The lens needs a great SBR and I just was not going to get it this weekend.

Does almost count for this?

An oldie but a goodie

Been having lots of fun shooting well-expired Konica Minolta 100 VX Super.

I've been shooting Fuji Pro 160c and Proviso 400 to test out the meter in my new F3.

But I've also been shooting Delta 3200 at gigs and RR80s out and about. Got so many different films to try atm.

I shot a couple of rolls of Tri-X, in Leica M3 and Contax IIIa. Family snaps for Thanksgiving.

Three rolls of TMY-2 and two rolls of Plus-X in my RB67 at a portrait workshop.

Portra160 today but never mind that. I finally scanned the first roll of Fuji Reala that I shot while on holidays, and dammit, I think I have a new favourite film. It has most of the saturation of Ektar without being quite so cartoonish, yet it renders skin so nicely. It manages to look contrasty and saturated without looking fake like Ektar and Velvia generally do. And it has none of the muddiness to which Portra is prone.

some scans

Oh how I wish Fuji still sold C41 sheet film. While this is not as fine as Ektar, it's quite sharp enough (compared to lens resolution) for shooting at 6x7.
