What did you fix today?

Attached some stabilizer bars to the bottom of my Korona 8x10" destined for wetplate work. Should hopefully take the strain off a big hunk of brass lens when I get one.

I finally got my Yashica TL Electro X working. There was a broken wire on the circuit board, and the first time I soldered it, I shorted over to the adjoining circuit. Very frustrating. The meter still doesn't work, but at least I now have more than 1/1000 shutter speed. I got the camera with a 50mm 1.7 lens and a good battery for $3 at a flea market. Once I replace the light seals I will load it up.

Have you ever had the camera turn when using the quick mount Bogens? On my cameras either the finish is too smooth or the metal is too slick and they will sometimes turn. I was thinking of putting in a post or hole so the quick mount will stay in place. Mine have some material that's not cork but a plastic. Looks like a nice job making the stabilizer, even though these cameras are strong they sometimes flex at the hinges.

I've been repairing and modifying a few Graflex RBs lately. I find an hour or two a night spent screwing and rubbing to be quite soothing.

Yeah, it happens quite often. They need to be screwed in real tight to avoid it don't they. That sounds like a good idea Curt. If you do it please show your results.

Today I fixed...

well, finished fixing, my new Nikkormat FT. I kept a Nikon Action Touch as my only 35mm camera after moving to 2 1/4 square. Turns out I sorely missed my F, F2 and most of all my FTN.

Gas, schmas, I gotta get me another! Hello eBay...I'm here to visit again. $30.00 shipped with a Vivitar 200mm; I can live with that. Even told my wife about it

Ya' know what's funny? I actually thought it would work upon receipt! Has anybody actually had that happen?

After a week of evening repair sessions, I ran a roll from it today. (Did I mention I found a 55mm f1.2 Nikkor for under $150? From a wonderful photo store, as well! Might not have mentioned that to wifey, though ).

Shooting it's like putting on an older, broken in pair of penney loafers; like being home again after a long road trip. Maybe not the same quality negs, and really not much lighter on the shoulder....but familiar and cozy.

Incidently...nice looking negs.

Had the fun of cleaning a reflex-Korelle Lens 1:2.9 F=75mm , came apart nicely but getting it back to is proper setting was Hell, took over Four hours to get it back to be where it was [I think ] I must remember to think twice before I do this again:

Took off the top-plate of my Zeiss Ikon Nettar II to clean the viewfinder glass. I thought it would be easier but, still, it wasn't too bad. Such a simple camera, I thought I could do it in 15 minutes. Took an hour.

I also cleaned up my 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" (59mm x 84mm) Kodak No. 2 Folding Pocket Brownie Model B (±1914). I lucked out with the viewfinder mirror after carefully cleaning it. The view is better than before and useable but not as good as it could be. I took measurements of it and will cut a spare mirror to size for a replacement at a later date. Was able to clean the single lens element, tighten down all the screws & nails and now just need to run a roll of of 120 to figure out what the 'I' shutter speed is. Sounds like it's in the area of 1/30th. Couldn't find any info on the web as to what it's supposed to be. I'll bet someone reading this knows.

Forgot to mention that I've been working on the bellows of my Wisner 4x5 for the last 3 months or so. I inherited the camera last April with the bellows near the front standard pushed in on both sides. Although very close, the smushed-in bellows didn't interfere with the image but, as new looking as the camera is, it looked like hell and had been stored like that for about 3 years. I removed the bellows from the camera and folded the bellows properly as best I could. Then, keeping the bellows compressed, I laid it on a surface, rear standard side down and put just enough weight on it to keep it compressed. This afternoon I finally took the weight off and it looks much better than before! I'll check it again tomorrow to see if it stays that way and then finally use it.

Started useing my 4x5 speed Graphic and bought a 5x7 B&J,now looking at making larger and more prints.Brought out the 16X20 print washer and thought I'd put it in the garage restroom,it had running water and a drain easy job!!! well almost, had to remove the toilet to fix the sewage pipe underneath .And since the toilet was out fixed the mickey mouse plumming,the plumming looked so good I decided to paint the walls behind the toilet and now the toilet looks like it needs to be replaced,got the washer in anyways.Nothing is as easy as it looks

Repaired light seals in an (original) Electro 35, and repaired light seals and shutter-button on a 'spares or repair' Olympus XA! Unfortunately the Electro is still proving erratic with it's battery connections :-(

I fixed the auxillary mirror assembly for the sports finder on my Rolleiflex new standard. The mirror had got displaced somehow the day before. Was easy except I nearly lost one of the springs that holds the ground glass in. Gave it all a good clean while i was in there and admired how clean the inside was anyway. The mirror looks new and the camera is from 1939!

I cleaned the sticking shutter and repaired a missing chip to the film door of a Falcon Miniature camera today. First time using lighter fluid to clean a shutter and it worked great. The door I used a kneadable two part epoxy stick to replace the missing corner and got it to shape, then painted it a flat black to match the Bakelite. Now I just need some 127 film....

I continued to sand down the Kodak 2D 8x10, I'm in no hurry and do a little each day. I have it apart and in a box and have stripped the outer finish from the entire camera and have sanded down the rear frame, base, rear support pieces that let it swing and will be sanding the front uprights and front lensboard holder tomorrow. Later the brass will have to be cleaned up and finished.

Yesterday, I resurrected an F that my local repair shop said was jammed due to a dent that was preventing the shutter release from working and the advance lever from working as well. Fiddled around with it a little, and it unjammed within a minute of my working on it.

I just got a box of cameras and lenses, 13 cameras in all I think with various lenses that don't seem to match tha cameras.
Some are totally messed up, shame really as 1 is a Pentacon ZI.

I started with easy ones.
So far I have rescued a Minolta 7-S and a Minolta AL-F.
These just needed a good clean and they both work even the meters.

changed the shutter capacitor in my dead minolta x300 (It works!) and put new light seals in a recently acquired olympus trip.

Adjusted the lockining clamps on rear standard of 5x7 B&J (shaky Jake) then moved on to a regluing of leather on my Regulia RM (lucky landfill camera).Now to go pickup up dog do doo,ahh its to late the sun went down,guess I'll just head for the darkroom and see whats developing there. or what I can fix.
