Ya, some parts of SoCal can get pretty rough. No socks, no tennis shoes. Temperature is down to 62F (17C) tonight; had to put on sweats.

exactly, i'd take snow, cold and ice any day..-20F here this morning, High of 6 today. But then we are into our January thaw, reaching 40 by Thursday. With rain of course, so the sidewalks will be sheets of ice. Come summer I am blessed with never getting above mid 90s, so I don’t complain too much.
Very chilly today! Only 63 degrees F! [17 degrees C] We have to wear sweaters or fleece.
Unlike Sirius, I ant going to say anything except if you come to SoCal bring your own water and color match your socks with your tennis shoes.

... Every morning I have to carefully choose socks to match my athletic shoes because I always wear shorts. It is just an extra step when dressing that is required in Southern California.
I would need to be well "lubricated" (to heck with the photo equip.) to shoot pictures in -15F weather and probably would not be in any condition to trip a shutter. Sirius, it seems you folks have rain forecast this weekend which should finish putting out the fires......Regards!I used to have my cameras lubricated for cold weather every winter. That way I did not have cold weather shutter issues.
-1c, or 30f. 58 degrees warmer than 26 hours ago...-34c, or -28f. No wind, mercifully. Clear and sunny.
Finally light gentle on and off rain.
It's been 90F day after day here and it'll be March before any significant cool down. At least it's not 117F like western Sydney yesterday!
Quite a contrast with Penrith, England where I live... It's cold, damp and foggy at the moment. We tend to have too much rain rather than too little! In a most peculiar twist of meteorological conditions, it topped 42.3 celsius down here last Saturday in the deep south 21km from the coast (even on the hottest days we get sea breezes that temper things nicely). Incredibly, a 'mild cool change' in the evening sent temperatures plummeting to just 19 degrees in 15 minutes, and it didn't get past 21 degrees the next day. It is still struggling to get anywhere near 25 degrees now, but will heat up again tomorrow (Thurs.) and Fri before another cool change.
It's true that Penrith out west of Sydney got to around 47 or 48 degrees celsius. It was reported in one of the papers that two petrol bowsers in full sun came close to exploding and were shut off. Far to the westward, at Broken Hill, the stifling dustbowl was baked and scorched in much the same temperatures. It would be nice to have a decent downpour of rain, but no short-term outlook is mentioning that.
So...quite a dramatic contrast of conditions with a startling view of frozen Niagra Falls, hmm?
