Fierce rain and windstorm. River behind my house over its banks and flooding. Big branches down covering the house and property. Roads into town closed by huge fallen trees. One person killed on another local road when Dead Link Removed. A second person hit by falling power lines down by the old municipal golf course. Power out for 300,000+. My power out for 11 hours.

Just another typical day in the Pacific Northwest. And it's only November...

Started out that way today (I'm a couple of hours drive north of Ken) but by this evening most of the clouds had cleared and it was really nice walking the couple of blocks to my evening meeting.

A little cool, but still very nice when I walked back just after 10:00 pm.

Just rain here...not much wind. Switching to indoor projects, but ready to dive outside if things dry up a bit.

I finished mowing the yard yesterday and was able to drive around with the windows partway down in the car. Not normal for November in western PA. It's supposed to be mid 60s (F) here today and then drop to the 40s and 50s from Friday on.

As a kid in central NYS, it wasn't unusual to have measurable snow by now. They're only slightly colder than here right now.

A little cool, but still very nice when I walked back just after 10:00 pm.

We had dinner down in town during the howling winds since our power was out. Looking out the window while sitting in the restaurant my wife says,

"What's that funny light in the sky?"

"I dunno'..."

Then I saw the telltale bluish flash...

"That's a transformer somewhere and it's arcing. Bet it's gonna' blow."

Moments later a huge blue flash lit up the dark sky, and the entire downtown business section went briefly but totally black as we sat there eating Mexican food. A few seconds later the lights blinked twice, then stayed back on.

Hadn't seen that color in the sky since a moderately violent earthquake a decade or so ago moved my house two inches and back on it's foundation. Every transformer everywhere blew at the same time. The sky was peppered solid with blue flashes. Everything in the house was on the floor. We spent the night in a truck.

I love this state...

Boring in the low desert, highs in the 70s, low in the upper 40s, thin clouds mostly sunny, no rain the forecast next 5 to 7 days.

Yeah, the Snoqualmie River also went bonkers with the flooding. Lost power for only 3 hours or so, which is odd.

Now drying out and getting nipply. Chance of snow mixed in with rain showers on Wed/Thurs. Then it dries out for a while.

Partly cloudy a short drive north from John. After several days of bad weather (some 40,000 in the valley were without power for a bit), the sun has been putting in periodic appearances during the day. More nasty weather possibly on its way at the start of next week (if the forecast is to be believed); if so, no biggie: I look it as an opportunity to start shooting some outdated Tmax 3200 (vintage - possibly - 2007?), rated at EI800 in the interest of caution. Hopefully fog won't be too big of an issue...

Sunny a short drive south from Bradley... Supposed to be cool, but sunny except for Monday and Tuesday, when it may be cool and showery.

This winter's first snow has been falling in Denmark all evening, and here in Copenhagen the beautiful white blanket is about five inches deep by now. The temperature is only just at the freezing point.
As usual, the snowfall has taken everybody by surprise and is causing massive traffic problems.
Hope the snow is still there by morning - I have some FT-12 high-contrast film I want to test.

Nice and sunny (maybe 8C?) atop the mountain. Just finished loading up my F6 with some E100VS; methinks a trek down to Barnet Marine Park to shoot the crabbers and the kayakers.

Headed a couple of hours up-island in the camper van on Friday. Seriously cold (for this part of the world) that night, we were careful not to poke more than a nose or an eyebrow out from our fleece-lined sleeping bag. Quite frosty in the morning, but clear and sunny and it soon warmed up. Photographed pilings and cormorants, rocks and weeds. Listened to the sea lions barking on the other side of the bay. Last night clouded over, the thermometer stayed above freezing. We were very cosy in our camper. Hit some Christmas craft fairs on our way home today, under a stripey sky. Predictions for this week are clear and cold, possible snow.

Our last camping trip for this year. Next year, if the fates are willing, we'll have more adventures.
