Hey, so if anyone's been following the Bushfires that we've had here over the past few weeks, as Polyglot has said they're finally out and somehow with no fatalities (although a lot of lost buildings, fences, stock, trees, native animals and such).
If anyone's interested in seeing what the place looks like now (I haven't been up there, the last thing they need is another gawking tourist with a camera), the Tour Down Under will still be going through the area.
And if you're not interested, watch the Tour Down Under anyway, it was the first (and still only 1 of 4) UCI World Tour outside Europe.

We called a plumber to replace them Steve and it's even colder today at minus 3°and its forecasting gales, snow in the next few days.

What will you do when it really gets cold?

Rain has returned. Supposed to be a "showers and sunbreaks" kinda day tomorrow. Then, another storm tomorrow night into Saturday. Probably back into the temperature inversion junk next week for a few days. So, fog and cool temperatures in the valleys and mild with sun on the hilltops.

Send the rain here please.

I thought you City of the Angels guys just got drenched? Flash floods? Floating cars? Floating houses? Floating people?

23F and DARK. But that happens at 6:30am in this part of the world. It's supposed to warm up and be sunny for the next few days.

We did, but it is a distant memory of almost a week back now.........it's back in the 70's again.

Absaloutely mahoosive hailstorm in South Wales yesterday just after 4 in the afternoon...deafening!

Rainy and blustery. Lights flickered three times. Found my flashlight. Ever since then, no flickers.

I stand corrected. A few minutes ago... *click* Off for 10 minutes. Still trying to go out. Guess the strong part of the storm has hit.

A bit north of you John. Power failed early this morning at 5:30 am and was out until about 3:15 pm this afternoon. I had to drive down into Monroe and watch the Seahawks win by the skin of their teeth while sitting at the Alfy's Pizza. Very strong windstorm last night and into today.

Ken

69 degrees F today. Just a typical mid January day.

Ken,

Hmmm, must've hit harder in your area later on, then. Strongest gusts around Duvall seemed to be around 2 am or so.

Sunny and 28F. Going to be in the upper 50's today. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get my workbench cleared today so I can load film.

I'm amazed - it's supposed to be sunny and warm (already around freezing; headed to 50ish F). And it's a day that the little guy is in day care! Woo hoo! If I can think of somewhere to go, I can go shoot.

after being sub freezing temperature for about 2 weeks ( cold enough to close some local public schools )
we have entered the january thaw part of the program it is currently about 45-50ºF here
just in time for cold february ..

Been watching it snow gently since early morning, finally went out to clear the walks--4" fresh white stuff and still coming down.

It's been snowing quite heavily since last night and all day today, it's time for my wife and I who are both retired to hibernate and keep warm until the warmer weather comes.

In Cornwall we don't see snow very often and although I was hoping to see some today it didn't happen.

It,s snowing! Like Benijboy, I am retired and too old to shovel snow. I am going to curl up with a good book!

An hour after clearing the snow from my walks, one of my wonderful neighbors ran his snow blower down the street and blew all the road crap onto my walk--on purpose--again, as is his usual f-you to me. At least he didn't bury my car again like he did last year.

I'm not" too old to shovel snow" Howard I'm still fit enough, but my wife and I have made sure we have enough of everything we need in stock so we can wait until it thaws to go out, snow rarely stays on the ground for more than a week in the U.K.
