Shoot till Monday...

We aim to arrive Friday afternoon and are booked in until Monday am, but may use the event as an excuse to go a bit further afield - for a few days more. Work and cash permitting that is.

I look forward to meeting you Martin.

Shame you can't make it Leon, you will be sorely missed.

Les posted this on the 12/11/7:
"I've just returned from visiting The Beach House Hotel in Seahouses to check out availability and cost. The only weekend available in April is Friday 4th to Sunday 6th next avaiable date is 2nd to 4th May. Cost would be £50 to £55 for dinner bed and breakfast. They are starting to build an extra 11 rooms as I write to take the capacity to 30 rooms, this will be completed in March. They have a large conference room at the rear of the Hotel that would be ideal for the evening gatherings. The hotel is located on the seafront on the edge of the village and is ideally situation for early morning shots of Bamburgh Castle, 10 minutes down the road and Dunstanburgh Castle about 20 minutes down the road."

I have e-mailed them to request a room.
I phoned them up but they seemed a bit disorganised and hadn't got a pen to hand so I said I would e-mail instead.
I liked their confidence "the rooms should be ready, we hope"
I'll bring my sleeping bag just in case

Do any of those attending wish me to organise a list of places of photographic interest. I will sort out a list of tide times hopefully it will prevent doddery old Miller fromgetting marooned somewhere off the coast of Northumberland:D

Just for that McLean, you can send back that GT Zimmerframe you borrowed from me.

I haven't forgotten that the last time you were leading the pack you contrived to abandon us all to the vagaries of a wild and unkempt wilderness.

Yeah, I remember that one too - Conned us into a dead end, did a handbrake turn and was over the horizon before the rest of us could follow! First time I've seen a camper-van with a turbo!

He turned up that evening with a smug grin, a weak excuse and a pint in his mitt!

I think you'll find that comes under the heading of "photo opportunity" for the rest of us...! :D

According to a gizmo on my Palm they should be roughly (based on figures for Northshields) -

Fri 4 April
High 0302 4.62m
Low 0909 1.30m
High 1501 4.82m
Low 2134 0.69m

Sat 5 April
High 0339 4.88m
Low 0946 0.99m
High 1541 5.12m
Low 2212 0.44m

Sun 6 April
High 0416 5.07m
Low 1024 0.73m
High 1621 5.35m
Low 2250 0.32m

I'm happy to be corrected by official figures (this proggy is free and untested (by me)). I'm not entirely convinced that it's allowed for BST either...! This page may also be useful.

just a bit of anecdotal info for you lot.

When I was up that way a few years back, Bamburgh castle was extremely well lit up at night with spots all round the landward side. Makes for some nice night time shots. But be warned, I spent half an hour setting the camera up one night in almost complete darkness which makes focussing and setting apertures etc pretty difficult. Just as I put the film holder in they switched the lights off. I'm sure someone was watching me because they couldn't have timed it any better. Had to go back the following night to get my images.

And trips to Farne Islands out of season are often only round the Island and don't land. So check before hand if you want to go on the Islands and see if you can organise it with one of the several skippers that do trips.
They couldn't understand why I would want to land on the Islands as "There is nothing there". I guess familiarity breeds contempt and I couldn't be bothered to explain that the bleak featureless landscape with a light house sticking out of it was actually quite appealing to a landscape photographer who hadn't seen it before.

Zimmerframe with motorised platform...

But Dave, even Les would build an extra friendly platform for Win - to ride behind... Now that would be a chariot to behold...

An easy rider zimmer complete with platform would have its advantages, but I wouldn't want to push it on sand or shingle though

Quite possibly Frank, now you want me to be rational?

Nah, why break the habit of a lifetime!

Next thing, he'll fit blades to the wheels and paint your faces blue!

"Get out of the wode! Get out of..."

I'll get my coat...! :D

Rooms are still available at Seahouses.

Hi everyone,

This is just to let you know that I shall be coming to Seahouses and I look forwrd to meeting you all over the weekend. I have just telephoned the hotel and booked up and Malcolm confirmed there are still some rooms left. What a smashing bloke he is too - well done Les for finding this hotel.

Cheers for now,

Neil.

That's good news Neil, I've long been a fan of your work so I look forward to meeting you.

Hi Dave,

Many thanks for that - I'll buy you a beer

I am really looking forward to meeting up with the group at last and getting creative for the weekend. Unfortunately I had to give the previous meets a miss due to our retirement move to Cornwall. All done now though and back in business!

Cheers,

Neil.

I've just booked and should be there sometime Friday afternoon - although from what Malcolm said I wonder if I should bring a tent!

See you then!

Have campervan to sleep four...

Hi Guys,

I have not checked on building progress yet, but just in case I will be taking the campervan. That way I can still get a bed for the night along with another three!

Looking forward to meeting the usual crew plus some new faces and names I've not met yet...

Cheers all.

Mark
