Anyone planning to travel up from the south coast?

I've just checked and it is almost exactly 7 hours drive. Thats pretty impractical if I'm doing it on my own, but if anyone else heading up from the area, maybe we could coordinate travel arrangements, making it easier/cheaper/more fun?

I'm in Bournemouth, but it makes sense to coordinate travel for pretty much the whole south/sw coast.

Anyone interested?

Hi ian - I'll be driving up from Kent ... although the drive isnt really that bad, well it wasnt last time I did it. But I regularly drive long distances. My fiancee might be coming with our two dogs so there may not be room for you, but if they dont come I would be happy pick you up to share fuel costs? there would be room for three passengers if anyone else wants to join in.

Dave,

That sounds good. I will also probably travel up on the Friday night and please count me in for the Friday and Saturday night meals and gatherings.

Regards,

Frank

Ok then, I shall see what is available with prices etc, and post the details in a week or so. It would help if others would say if they want to camp or lodge or make their own arrangements.

We are planning the B&B thing also. Can you guys be specific with location and timing. We've spent some time searching via internet, The area is huge so I'd hate to make the wrong plans.

One problem with the suggested dates is a possible clash with Focus that would probably cause a problem for me and possible Ailsa. I'll check the dates and post them.

Quite right Les. The Focus dates are 27th Feb to 2nd March. Follow the link for details:

So, how about the weekend before folks: the 20th / 21st of Feb. Does that cause anyone any problems?

Fine by me Dave - I only suggested that other date because it was after payday for me. I guess I'll just have to be sensible and save some pennies

I doubt that I would make those dates, but I'm a "maybe" anyway. Hopefully I'll be lucky enough to crash the party, but if not, I'm sure you'll all have a fabulous time.

Cheryl,

What dates in Feb *could* you do? Nothing is set in stone as yet...

That would be fine with me. Unless, of course, my husband of five months is still in romantic mood and decides to whisk me away to Paris for Valentine's weekend...

Surely a long weekend in the Lakes under canvas is much more romantic than a smelly city?

The dates are OK for me.

1) Belated congratulations! May you love as long as you live and live as long as you love.
2) ISTR one of the first issues of a most esteemed publication carrying an article about how difficult it was now to legally take photographs in France, specifically Paris...
3) Haven't you heard that Keswick has been dubbed "European City of Romance" for 2005?! (This seems to be in line with Liverpool getting "City of Culture" and Belfast getting "City of Commerce" for services to the balaclava industry!)
4) If you don't come we'll all sulk!

Can we settle on the weekend of 12th/13th of February 2005 then. I have provisionally Identified a hotel that looks like it will house the more delicate among us. I shall enquire prices and availability over the next couple of days and report back. I have not so far been able to find anywhere with a camp site adjacent, but will keep looking.

12/13 should be fine with me. Defintatly b&b.

Leon: Thanks for the potential offer of a lift. We'll try and work it out nearer the time, but it should be far more fun.
