The Portfolio, with a print of my "Shagbark Hickory" is on its way.

I especially liked "The Tides of Time" by Nigel Smith. I was fascinated by a sort of "Escher-like" progression, from rocks -to-water. Excellent! Technically excellent, as well.

I tried to ship the Portfolio in its original case, sans box. The people at the post office immediately placed in in a box ...

It is now on its way ... with a new combination lock. I'll PM the combination to the name I addressed the package to, and to David Goldfarb.

All of the work there was outstanding. It is a relief to look at non-digital (read: Fine!!) images again!

Well, shoot, "Shagbark Hickory" doesn't sound like a nude ...unless you're describing its effect.

Looking forward to getting it, Ed!

thanks Ed. Jorge liked that too.. I might have to add it to the Gallery.. might sell one  although I dion't think I've ever posted it online as I have never liked how it translates on the screen.

I think that's a 1st... they probably charged you for the extra weight of the box too!

With all this commentary about the portfolio, I'm getting excited to see it again! Get printing everyone!

That is the raison d'etre for the Portfolio. There is a WORLD of difference between a scanned collection of zeros and ones and the true, honest, in-hand print! ... that is the reason I work in "analog".

Arrived safe and sound!

It's a lovely box, Ed, and I'll open it over a glass of something or other later this evening. Thanks.

Sorry for the delay, guys. I had to order a special order replacement bulb for the enlarger and it it's not here by the middle of next week, I'll send the portfolio on to David and will catch the next round.

Thanks.

Thanks, Michael--the portfolio arrived safely. Who's the pipe smoker?

There's some great work in there, but not as many prints as I'd expected, so I think we need to do a quick inventory. I've got prints from--

Ole Tjungen
Clay Harmon
Chuck Pere
Jorge Gasteazoro
Lee Carmichael
Nigel Smith
Ed Sukach
Les McLean
Aggie
Chris Glanton
David A. Goldfarb
Brian McGuinness
Joe Lipka

There are no prints from--

(ahem...) Sean Ross
Tom Sauerwein
Aaron Van de Sande (responded--withdrawn)
Robert Kennedy
Jim Chinn
Jay de Fehr
Michael Veit (post above--sitting out this round)

If you are on the "missing in action" list, but you included a print, let me know so we can figure out where it went. If you just decided to sit out this round or if you were a new participant this round and the portfolio skipped you, let me know that too.

I'm going to hang onto it for a few weeks probably while I sort out the next round (I've also got a few big things to take care of at the day job right now). If a number of people have dropped out, it's possible that we can continue using one portfolio. I'll check back through all my PMs and e-mails on the portfolio and reconfirm everyone. If we've got enough participants, we'll add a second portfolio. My goal is to clear the waiting list on round 3.

I'll set up a PayPal account for the Portfolio, so if new participants want to contribute to the second shipping case, they can, and I'd like to set up a fund to help out participants who repeatedly get stuck with heavy shipping costs.

We'll also have a get-together at my place when I've got a little time.

I'm glad to see mine's still in there - I think. I wonder what I put in there?

Except for the spelling of the name, I assume that's me?

Oops. Sorry for the typo, Ole.

Your print is a lith print of an old stone bridge near Vadheim, Sogn og Fjordane.

So that's where it's gone to! That's good, it's nothing to be ashamed of.

BTW the typo is nothing to be ashamed of either - it's one of the more common of the 29 or so misspellings of my name I see every year! I consider it the price I have to pay for having a rare name, there' only about 20 of us Tjugen's.

Sorry for holding it up. I realized that I have a lot of e-mails to sort through to make sure the list is up to date so all those who have been on the waiting list will be included, and the last semester was just impossibly busy. Classes are over, and I should be moving it along this week.
