Howardpan, thank you for the service!
I'm gonna use this file for making a digital inter-negative for (alt photo) salt printing and albumen printing in the weekend of April 8th. 2017
(I'll probably will be receiving the analogue negative in a year or so).

Bert (TheToadMen) got in touch with me yesterday, and I scanned the negative for him. If anyone else is interested, here are the links:

The first link is about 30MB. The second link is about 120MB.

I am finished with the negative. The prints are drying on the screen and should be ready for scanning tonight. I haven't heard back from ivanlow yet. It has been over a week since I sent him a private message. I will forward the negative to walbergb as soon as I receive his address.

Catching up on this thread... Saw the PM, that's faster than expected, but I see now that that's because of a few people not responding. So, I'll gladly have a go at the traveling negative next. PM reply is on its way.

Or we start a complete new thread then with a new negative.

The negative has arrived in sound condition. I'm not going to look at what others did before me, I'm just going to print it like I would. That's the whole idea, isn't it? Wow, this travelling negative sounded nice on paper, but it's even more exciting to actually have received it.

Just letting you know I'm still here! Today was the first chance to do some printing, so I've done some first investigations and attempts. If it's OK, I'd like to try a few more things, which I hope to do this week and coming weekend, maybe early next week.

At what point should I get in touch with the next in line, and... who is that? Should I give ivanlow or walbergb another try, or is Brian L the next to give it a try?

(I'll probably will be receiving the analogue negative in a year or so).

As said before, Howardpan provided me with a scan of this negative, so I could make an internegative for contact printing with the salt printing process. I finally did this weekend and here are my results.

1) Salt print on regular Van Beek drawing paper:
zoutdruk-Parijs-vanBeekPaper-001-WEB.jpg

2) Salt print on Hahnemühle Platinum Rag:
zoutdruk-Parijs-PlatinumRagPaper-001-WEB.jpg

Both prints were made with the same process and chemicals. This shows how much the paper influences the colour of the final print. (I tried to match the scan on my screen as much to the original as possible). The Hahnemühle looks almost grey, indeed.

# my Salt Printing Process in short #
I used 20 grams Ammoniumchloride [NH4Cl] on 1 liter water to salt the paper. I also added Sodiumcitrate [Na3C3H5O(COO)3] (20 grams on 1 liter water) to the salting mix to make it a little more light sensitive and to make the tone of the final print a tiny warmer. The paper itself wasn't previous seized with gelatine, albumen or arrowroot, but I added a little gelatine (8 grams on 1 liter water) to the salting mix itself. I submerged the paper in the solution to get it soaked. After drying the paper I made it light sensitive with silvernitrate (12 grams on 1 liter water), using a brush. Exposure was 9:30 minutes under lamps using a digital negative (black-green printed for more "density"). The print was first washed in clear water to get rid of the surplus of unexposed silver, then washed in salt water (= 5% NaCL), then washed in clear water again and finally fixed in Sodiumthiosulfate [Na2S2O3] (150 grams on 1 liter water) and Sodiumcarbonate [Na2CO3] (2.5 grams on 1 liter water). The final wash is in water with a little hypoclearing agent to remove all the fix.

I also made an albumen print with this negative, but somehow the paper got polluted during seizing with silvernitrate. I immediately got some brown streaks - maybe from some residu of the fix on my gloves?? I still made the print to test this paper, that was new to me. It's a beautiful aquarel paper with a very nice structure - and very suitable for salt printing and albumen printing. It's made in the Netherlands and is called "Terschelling" and made by "Schut" from Heelsum, the Netherlands (Hot Pressed, Matt, Demi-Satine, 300 grams/m2).

This is the albumen print (with the two smudges from the contamination and the (on purpose) reversed negative), it's the most "brown-reddish" prints of all thee:
albumendruk-Parijs-TerschellingPaper-001-WEB.jpg

I think I like this last print best for its colour and paper (except for the smudges). I'll continue with this paper in other processes too. But I think the first Salt print on regular Van Beek drawing paper is the best of these three prints for its exposure, contrast, colour and lack of errors

BTW: this albumen print was exposed with full sun light for 1.5 minutes (90 seconds), but could have used at least 2 minutes of exposure. It was a nice, sunny day for printing outside (21 degrees Celsius).
