The pop-up that previews the first post when you hover over a thread... would be more useful if it revealed the text of the first unread message instead of always the first message.

I can't agree. The idea of the preview is to tell you what the thread is about, but the "first unread" post would only tell you what that post is about which might have little bearing on what came before or after.

The issue I have with the preview is that its slower (not a fan of the gradual "fade-in" way it appears) and much bigger and more obstructive than it was previously. It blocks several other thread titles when it (slowly) appears and I don't remember it being that way before. I recall the preview box being wider and therefore needing fewer lines of text which made it functionally smoother in appearance.

I understand I could turn off the preview... which I don't need for active threads because I pretty much know what they are about. I'd just like to read something I haven't already seen and the preview shows the same thing every time.
I haven't quite gotten used to "last unread" either. Maybe if preview showed the "last" post it would be good. Like the pop-up you get when you get an email at work.

APUG & DPUG will remain separate websites, but there will eventually be a toggle switch so that users of both sites can activate a unified login, new posts, inbox, etc between APUG/DPUG. For those who do not enable it, everything remains the same. That is going to take a lot of development and will kick in after the new APUG is finished. I would guess 3-6 months.

IIRC Sean, you indicated as well that the software would also permit moderators to move a digitally centred thread from APUG to DPUG. Is that still in the cards?

Yes, definitely and one of the main reasons to share the databases.

And when someone from the other side of the wall gripes that the sites aren't fully integrated, you take away their toggle switch, right?

Are links in older threads (to other posts on APUG) broken?
In this post:
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)
I referred to a post by Mirko located here (before the transition):
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)
But when I click this link, it leads to an error page "NOT FOUND".
After some searching I found the original post by Mirko here:
(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Another question - something for the wish list.

Is it possible to mark a single post in a (long) thread for personal archiving/reading later? Give this post (not the thread) a "READ LATER" mark or something?
Sometimes I read an interesting post in a thread about how someone developed X in Z or made A possible with B.
These are single posts I would like to (re-)find on a later date. But at that time I don't know anymore what thread it was - or it's a veeery long thread to go through - or who posted it. And the search option often doesn't help for it gives too many answers.

For example, like Mirko's comment on Rodinal mentioned in my previous post. I didn't know when and where Mirko posted it and it was a long search. Luckily I remembered Mirko's name, otherwise I wouldn't have found it. I now searched for "Mirko Adox Rodinal Adonal" and got lucky.

SUP and SUB bbcode is not functioning and not available in editor menu. There are posts that were/are using them which now show 123 around what should be a superscript.

AND

TABLE bbcode isn't implemented. Don't remeber if it was on old system but it is often useful for formatting some post content in columns.

A attachment issue:

(there was a url link here which no longer exists)

The attachement within the quotation in this post, when opened shows a photo obviously unrelated to the topic.
When going to the original post where that quotation was from, one can see a different, much more plausible photo.

(It could be that the quoting poster may have changed figures by mistake, but such does not seem likely.)

I miss the box around the quotations.

Is it no longer possible to add a picture to a post directly from ones computer, without using a web image hosting service?

Use "Upload File or Image" at the bottom of the "Reply" window.

The guide to acceptable file types and sizes needs to be re-instituted. Sean has posted that he was going to be looking into that.

I've found that jpeg files up to about 1400 x 1400 pixels at 100% quality seem to work.

I'm weak - I need my "hidden" threads to be even more hidden!

On a thread page there is no link for that as a whole (that is starting at post #1).
One has to to go to a thread-title list to get that link.

Just took a look at the Groups page. The Cycling group, which I started, doesn't show up in the "my groups" section, though it is in "owned groups". Should it also be in the "my groups" list?

When an alert for a group posting comes to your Alerts, it doesn't say what group the posting is in. As anyone who's been here any length of time knows, I'm no prude, but it would be nice to know the name of the group so if it is not appropriate to view at work I can avoid clicking on it at the wrong time. A female nude image had been posted to the Fine Art Nudes group and since I didn't know that was the group, I clicked to check what it was. Fortunately nobody was shoulder-surfing at the time.

This is bugging me to the point where I'm about to turn off preview despite being a big fan of the feature. Unless the thread I hover over is halfway down the page, the tall narrow preview window is partially hidden by the lower toolbar on my browser window, and blocks every thread title in between. And I still find the slow fade-in obnoxious and non-utilitarian. Is there a way to revert to the instant, wide and short preview box the old APUG had? And does it really need to show an avatar? This new preview is all bells and whistles and no meat.
