I liked it the way it was until recently! How is it now guys?
Could it be switchable by the user?
Alternatively, could you make the "Go to the first new post" link bigger and more easily seen and clicked upon? For when I am using my tablet.

It was hard for me to get used to, as the unread markers kept pushing me down the post list for threads I had not seen yet. This could be added as a user option for sure. Will try to get that in when my coder is back online tomorrow.. Will look at that graphic now..I liked it the way it was until recently!

was trying something, but it shouldn't be there now..In the list of new threads, there are now little quote balloons over the first letter and after the title of each thread. Is it just me?

Not that I'm aware of. I'm using the ipad the same as before the changes and didn't experience the problem then. I do know that if I clear the history, I have to log in, but I haven't cleared the history for a while. I don't have the problem with other websites that I have to log into, just this one.It sounds like you are running some anti-tracking type plugins or browsing in 'private' mode. APUG places a 'cookie' in your browser so it can remember your login. Do you have anything running that might block that?
Hi Matt, I have updated the icon size and added a bit of spacing, is this better? The 'responsive' style on APUG is slightly broken on ios, not too bad on Android. I'm close to having a style guy update it.I liked it the way it was until recently!

That's odd. We have a few ipad users who have not reported this. I think @MattKing uses an ipad here maybe he can offer some advice. I don't have an ios device to test on. One thing is to maybe go into your Safari settings and make sure an option such as 'clear all cookies, cache or history on exit'.Not that I'm aware of. Must be a quad hd tablet? In which case it would all be quite tiny, have you tried bumping font size up one level via browser settings? The icon in question is a font so it should jump in size as well. The icon is definitely better. But it is still fairly small when I use my tablet to look at APUG.
Could it be another colour - something like the "currently online" symbol in brilliant green?
You added that button "Go to First Unread" at the end of a page. That is fine.
The same time you dislinked this Feature from the Header at the listing, but installed a button in front of the header.
I do not see the advantage of this. It is not even benefitial for a newby as it ist meaning is not self-explanatory.
Not to hover above any function to releae a poo-up, one has to stay on the right side of the Header listing, and now has to go all over left for that new button to click.
Those little smaller popups are called 'tool tips' and show bits of info on mouse over. Some options for those would be a switch for people to turn them all off, sitewide. Or increase the delay time for them to pop up by 1 or 2 more seconds.. The old site had them as well.oops I never saw it before...
Keeping the cursor far at the left likely will make pop-up "you posted in that thread".
Well, I have re-learn again. But I prefer the former solution.
On the plus side, it's great for brain health to be exposed to and learn new thingsWell, I never knew all features of the old system...
We all are on a learning curve.
I was on the old APUG system earlier tonight and it was hard to go back to it, especially the old admin control panel.Must be a quad hd tablet? <snip>...when I click on forum thread, it takes me to that page but all the way to the bottom of the page. Have to scroll all the way to the top to start reading. I'm sure I'm not the only one but I'm too lazy to read the responses!
I don't like that either.

I don't like it. I REALLY REALLY liked the thread title taking me to the first unread post rather than having to hunt with my cursor for a tiny icon. That was AWESOME!!! Why would anyone want to go anywhere but the first unread post in a thread (unless you had searched for something)? If you previously marked it as read without reading it that's your own danged fault.
Maybe we could show the page numbers or a tiny icon for "go to very first post in thread" to help people who aren't paying close enough attention.![]()

The easy way to go to last post on last page of a thread is clicking the time stamp here:Not sure if this relevant but when you hover over a thead title the last page numbers show up in miniature and clicking on last page number takes you to top of last page in thread. It would be nice to have that option and an option to go to last post on last page of topic. I thought that was what was happening so you had the option. Are we saying this no longer is the case or have I got the wrong end of the stick. Or is this just about small monitored devices.
