A shot added for the Movement theme, although not a new one I'm afraid!

I'll try and do better for the Still Life shoot, but I'm usually pretty awful at them so I wouldn't hold your collective breaths in awed anticipation!
You can't be worse at it than me!

.....so I will if you will .....

I'm in, though still lifes are something I'm photographically challenged at.

I find it hard to belive that you are photographically challenged by anything

That's a complement by the way

Mr. Moore, you would be suprised to see all the crap I do shoot!

Thanks for the complement.

Er, does that count as still life? Or did someone change the theme to scatology?!

Challenge no doubt. I tried this before with some awful results. Let's just stay that my still lifes were dead. Off to try to resuscitate them! I'm in. -Karen

The "challenge" as it was originally proposed was a motivation to challenge ourselves, within a time frame, with topics that we may not choose on our own, thereby stretching some never used or long ignored photographic muscles. No silly, pointless photo club blue ribbons. Just the pleasure of personal accomplishment and enjoying seeing the different ways that others interpret and undertake the same random topic.

BTW. After seeing the wonderful studio shots of subjects as complex as the female nude that Thomas has posted. Am I the only one here that doubts that he would be less skilled when approaching a still life?

We're about a week away from the close of this round of the challenge. I'd like to throw out the idea of "Still Life" as the September subject. Whadda ya think?

You are all a bunch of wusses......you want a challange? shoot dirt!

That is right folks, just dirt, no models, no props, nothing! And no Thomas, you dont get to put a nice model in a mud pit with a few of your wonderful props, that would not be fair for the rest!

I certainly hope some of you think out of the box for something like this. I got some very surprising responses when I proposed this to a little class I taught.

I believe that the APUG ToS strictly forbids the posting of "dirty" pictures. :surprised:

LOL......

OOPs

I completely missed that whole August 18th deadline thing! Stills now huh? OK, I think I can do that!

Is there a deadline for this "still life" challenge? I think I might have a suitable inmage.

Ok, I picked the last one, who has an idea for the next challenge? If nobody steps up, I actually do have another one, but I dont want to hog it up hehe.

How About freedom? maybe tough as a concept, certainly not tangable but something worth looking forward to creating.

....and the final decision is?

Sounds Awesome

I will 'sticky' this thread and get a dedicated gallery page for this..

Having not reading this whole thread, but wanting to take part in the challenge, would someone please post the final rules and give us all the directions. Additional replies seem to confuse things so let's have a moderator with final say.

As I understand it ... film and paper should be washed according to the manufacturer's recommendations . although Ilford suggested a "standing bath" and multilple changes of water routine a few months ago. Be sure to remove the proper amount of "fix".

A good idea ... but isn't "forbidding" overdoing it a tad?

Would we use the cow pat exposure zone as referred to in an earlier thread for this one? I still have to print mine but they are covered with horse flies.

I vote that we allow Thomas to use nude models.

Come to think of it ... what about modifying the "challenge" to REQUIRE the inclusion of nude models..?
Seems more interesting than "dirt".

Not to ignore the interest that your suggestion holds Ed.
How 'bout, since we're on the theme of showing something about ourselves at the moment ..... "Through My Window".
Capture anyone's imagination?

Sounds intriquing .... looking in or out and errrrm if I'm in the mood are we allowed a model in the room if looking in?

That's what I had in mind, though "Freedom" certainly captures the imagination too. Would probably challenge you to put a person in your picture.

Freedoms a good one also. After the cliché idea's of a car / motor cycle / the open road etc. Some quite topical idea's spring quite readily to hand.

Has the idea of reflection ever been done? Many different ways to express it or show it.
