Whatever is in the works the only hope for us mere mortals is Portugal plant production. That might reduce the cost a bit. And maybe a new lens (40mm?)

Clever! We should add that the crystal would be made by Zeiss.
But I still feel that there are too few Hasselblad crazies as potential buyers. I have used Leicas since late 1960s. After Leitz and Wild, Leica has been the marketing of a brand name I still have climbing and hiking boots, as well as various outdoor equipment bought at Abercrombie and Fitch on Madison Ave. (Their offerings in guns were way beyond my budget). What do owners of brand name sell now?

I love the M7. There are only two things I want changed on it. Like you the 1/4000 shutter. 1/8000 would be even better like in my R9. And to just get rid of the DX reader. So no stooopid flashing little red light in the VF if you change film speed rating , use a non dx roll etc

At 1/10,000th second one starts getting reciprocity problems with film ==> that is the exposure is too short for film to properly record it.

You wouldnt happen to know which ones off hand would you? I sometimes use repurposed recording films, but their ISO is so low - one is 1.6 - that I’d never use a 1/1000 speed w it even wide open at the beach.

I just remember the good old days of Modern Photography and Popular photography with the Legendary Herb Keppler. Many tests involving many films, all the time. Hours of reading pleasure!

The general idea was that 1/4000 was already too short for many films, and some films saw their limit at 1/1000 already.

There were soooo many films back then.

It's a non-TTL M6 re-issue. It's going to be just under $5k. It's going to be limited to 500.

Total bust IMHO. The market needs a new 35mm camera that is at least 'available.' This will go to collectors in seconds and be gone. It's also about $1000 too expensive to be interesting. Not great, Leica.

My first thought was "wow 15 colour films...if only we had that many today". But just for C41
Kodak makes 8
Cinestill makes 3
Silbersalz makes 4
Lomo makes 8
Fuji makes 3
...and there's a lot more from dubble and other such low volume, weird films

Even as a kid I thought it funny that a print magazine would show colour film image comparisons. As of course the printing/reproduction process would influence the results.
I based my film choices on type of film and brand. Slide (!) was always Kodachrome 64 but I hardly ever bought that because broke kid and holding up the slide to the sky lost its appeal. C41 was Fuji or Kodak depending on film speed and price. The output was always messed up by my minilab so it didn’t make much difference.
B&W was tri-x. I grew up in England pre global warming so in the cold(er) damp(er) dark(er) days compared to now. That was a staple as I could use the school darkroom.

I have a beautiful M7 sitting ready to go back to Japan. I tried different batteries, all fresh and in spec. The shutter speed dial needs attention, at least that's what I suspect. The DX reader even worked perfectly. I suspect that this camera sat in a box for a long while. Pretty, very pretty. I have a couple nice Leicas so I will get by.
