I need airfare to LA
That's a pricey way to get a free roll of HP5!
It's on Thursday, and even though I am local, I'm not going. Don't people have jobs? They couldn't do this on a Saturday fercryinoutloud?
One of the advantages of retirement.
Yes, one of the advantages of retirement is that you can drive down to the Leica Store and pay for parking which likely costs more than the free roll of film, and then you can shoot it, and drive down to the Leica Store and pay for parking which likely costs more than the free processing, and then drive down to the Leica Store and pay for parking and pick up your prints and discuss them with a "brand ambassador" which, if you read the job description, is a sales clerk. On the upside, you will get three opportunities to fondle an M11. I've been to a Leica Store on a number of occasions, and once I got to fondle an M10, and based on that experience, if some one gave me one, I would use it.
Parking is free an Samy's and there is also free parking on the neighboring streets. You just go to the wrong stores.

I'll have an opportunity to fondle an M11 this coming January. Alas, the offer of free film and processing will be long over by then. Fortunately, I will be taking the bus, so I'll only be out a couple of dollars, and there are several photo galleries right around the corner from the Leica Store which I like to visit.

gosh...it's not really about the free film...it's about the experience...the Leica Lifestyle, hob-nobbing with the Leica community, and so on...no?
The other day, I spotted another guy with a Leica at a crowded event. Do you know, I felt embarrassed. I hoped he wasn't going to come across and claim some kind of kinship, so I sidled away. I also - rather meanly - hoped my photos would be better than his, because it isn't the camera, you know. Having developed my pics, I think he was actually in with a very good chance.
It was the red dot birthmark on his Leica that I noticed first. I used to have mine blacked-out with electrical tape, but later I felt that was an affectation of unproven benefit, and besides it got sticky in hot weather. Now I'm thinking of getting to work with a Sharpie.
I noticed that the free film offer is limited to 500 rolls per store. I wonder how may people Leica is actually expecting to show up
What is Negative Supply Demo Day?
I'm gonna go down into town and get my M6 outta the vault at the bank, mount the 50mm Planar ZM and put the 28mm Biogon ZM in my pocket....then drive down to Pleasanton, park my car, take BART into the City, sleep on the sidewalk with the homeless people (there's free food in Civic Center Plaza on Tuesday nights!)...
I might take in an Opera, and visit Glasskey...and...and...
mmmm, what about morning coffee?
Perfect, I'll pencil it in for Friday. You're going to have to make it a two or three day blowout to fit all that in. The opera is only performing Tuesday and Friday. Also, they are doing Dialogues of the Carmelites. To be honest, unless you are a big fan of Francis Poulenc, you might want to skip it. Of course, different people have different tastes in music, and everything else.

I sat through "Girls of the Golden West" and survived the head splitting noise of "Billy Budd"
I'm certain it cannot be that bad.

No worries.Keep in mind that the opera is French.
Rusalka is sung in Czech and Hansel and Gretel is sung in German. I have only heard them on recordings. What was language Rusalka sung in? That was good too.
I admit, Hansel and Gretel (in German?) was a little...meh.
