I just communicated with Thomas Mooney, Film Capture Business Manager, Kodak Alaris. He provided the following information that you may find useful.

Tmax 100 in 120 roll backing paper issue is fully resolved and they are back in production. They will be shipping this week to distributors and stock house dealers around the world starting with the first emulsion 0983.

T-Max 400 had the backing issue resolved before and the film started with emulsion 0153.

Ektachrome 100 status: He stated: "Relative to EKTACHROME 100 status, the bulk of the activity is now focused on narrow coating work to optimize curve shape based on what was learned in the first wide event. Given the progress to-date, we are optimistic that the new film could be generally available in Q1 of 2018."

That's terrible news Alan -- for all the Kodak bashers here at Photo.

It'll be interesting to see what they do/say when 120 TMX makes its way through the distribution pipeline and starts showing up at retailers. And again next year when Ektachrome becomes available for purchase.

I have not seen T-Max 100 in any of the dealers here for a long time. Because of its lack of availability I migrated to Pan F+ 50 for the occasional B&W work I do.
Ektachrome: Like many people I was under the impression they were about to box the stuff by now and send it out to a small number of testers for evaluation (?). Hmmm.

I never was under the impression that the film should have been out by now for use to test it. I'm pretty confident kodak has all the means to properly test film material in house. EKTACHROME is a fact, unlike ferrania chrome.

On the audio post about the progress, it was made fairly clear that the "wide Event" was to produce a test coating for internal testing. this may explain the reference to a 48 inch coating, rather than the normal 72 inch that PE mentioned as more typical for Kodak's last remaining Wide coater.

the audio specifically said that none of the film from the Wide Event would be able to be sold.

It is sad but true that a LOT of film is made, tested and trashed when bringing a product up to production.

Probably meant the backing paper issue. You have to remember something here, people are generally most concerned with Kodak keeping the great films they already have around and that includes the Q/C with backing paper.

The release of Ektachrome 2.0 comes in at a inter-gallactically distant second in my opinion.

Whenever that Ekatchrome becomes available it's going to fly off the shelves, i know i'll likely be contributing to that.

Yes - the backing paper issue with wrapper offset.

I had several rolls of Portra 160 with the backingpaper issue (imprints) - I would like to know wether those problems are fixed.
A friend had affected Ektar 100 films - what's on with those ?

Presumably they felt there was no need to do so, all the new Portra & Ektar stock I've handled from at least December 2016 onwards has had the new backing paper.

I don't think I mentioned it, but Mooney from Alaris told me that they'll see how receptive the Ektachrome in 135 is after it's released in Q1 2018. Then they will decide on other formats.

Bought a box of TMAX 400 from an Amazon seller just before Christmas and have had the backing paper issue, luckily only noticeably on one frame out of three rolls so far. It was on a shot that didn't work out either, so no biggie really. Makes me nervous for shooting the remaining two rolls though, will check the batch numbers when I get home.
