Alt Print Show, Washington State

image.jpg

Show goes up next week. Come see it if you can.

Pretty exciting (for me anyway), one of my images was just awarded a "Peoples Choice" award in the single image competition in B&W Magazine in the "Nude/Body" catagory. Issue is supposed to hit the newstands in a couple of weeks. I just got my copy in the mail yesterday.

Congrats, Dan. I like it when one of our own gets recognition. Anyplace we can see the image?

Thanks Eddie. If you have a subscription to B&W, you might already have gotten the latest issue. Otherwise, they told me the magazine is supposed to be out soon. After the magazine comes out, I'll be posting it on my website.

Looking forward to seeing it, Dan. Let us know when it's on your site.

I'll post here to revive this thread instead of starting a new one. I entered works to be considered for the Westmoreland Art Nationals here in western PA. All of my entries were APUG-acceptable and two got in! Woo-hoo! Here's the link for the show (it starts with the list of accepted artists, but has info about the actual shows) - http://www.artsandheritage.com/TheArts/ArtNationals.aspx

Both of the ones I got in were lith prints from Holga negs - kinda amusing in some ways. Works entered had to have been created within the last 3 years.

If any of you follow Ted Forbes's YouTube chanel here is the link to his video were I've been mentioned

Please, take a look

While not a contest i was asked if i had any photographs that id like to submit for a resturant that wants in on the monthly first friday artwalk. It was going to be a collective show but as things turn out its only my photos. 6 of them were selected out of the 10 i sent. While not a major venue like many of you here have done its the first time for me showing any work outside of apug and facebook.

I'm terrible at it. But I do enter art shows and use Facebook to announce any accepted entries. My wife is better in tooting my horn.

I had an image selected for the fourth time in Black and White Magazine Special Issue and had a successful exhibition of thirty-eight images from Mar 26th through May 7th at a gallery in Miami.

I had an image selected for the 2018 alternative printing process contest in Black and White magazine. It's the issue that just came out (got mine in the mail today). My shot is on page 31 and is a Mordançage.

Back in June, I also had two prints in the Red Light show at the Lonsdale Gallery in Toronto and one in the large format show at the Lightbox Gallery in Astoria, OR.

I have just been notified that some of my work has been selected as a merit winner in this year's Black and White Magazine's Portfolio contest! This is truly a dream come true! I keep pinching myself! On top of it, for the second year in a row, two of my prints were selected in the curated exhibition "Monochrome" presented by PH21 Gallery in Budapest. I am so honored by all of it! What a thrill!

I have my 1st photography show coming up in November down in Ocean Springs, Ms, a kinda artsy place on the Ms Gulf Coast where I hail from. Most of my COVID isolation was spent learning darkroom printing at age 70. The FB papers were a PITA, but like most things in life, just needed figuring out.

I'm courting trouble though, as the proof prints that had initially been sent to the gallery were straight photography, and thinking better of it, decided to show more art-like stuff. They'll get the idea when the prints are on the wall, I reckon.

Selling something is not even on my radar. I'll be at the opening for the exact same reason as everyone else........ for the conversation, and free boiled shrimp and beer.

Congratulations! And double congrats for your tenacity in conquering FB papers! With you on the free shrimp and beer!
