Impressive results with the Bessa I. Especially the first shot.

Interesting colors with a E-6 film processed in C-41. I thought they would be way off. Looking forward to your video of the tri-colour gum process!

Correction. Ektar 100. Sorry for confusion. 🤭

+1 from me too! You dug into those shadows very nicely. The old version of Tri-X was my first serious B&W film and that was when all I had was a 35mm SLR I got from the Military PX .

Thank you John.
Tri-X is a fantastic film, even today (it's changed a lot over the decades, of course). I like working with it in 120 format - it's big enough to make impressive images but convenient to have 12 frames in a single loading.

Zeiss 521/2 6x9 Tessar. FP4.

Folders are great. I use them more often than my modern cameras. I love the challenge.

I wear glasses and I got the viewfinding wrong with this private rural museum not centered properly in the frame. Moving the camera a little more to the left was needed. I cropped the image substantially on the right trying to compensate but only marginally improved it. So correct viewfinding is pretty important with these "sports finder" type viewfinder cameras.

I don't think my Pentax 6X7 could do much better than that old girl. Lovely tones. I do know one thing for certain and that is your Vollenda would fit in my jacket pocket and my Pentax 6X7 won't.

Thanks. I am very impressed with that Schneider Xenar lens (It's a Tessar design, of course). Its performance comes close to what my Medalist II with an Ektar lens can do, and that's saying something. I waited patiently for nearly 3 years to find a Volenda 620 with a lens other than the standard Kodak Anastigmat, and about a year ago I found this one with a Xenar.

And no, I wouldn't want to try to carry my Medalist in a pocket either!

Well, I slipped a newly repaired (for a friend) Medalist II in my pocket and went to the St. Patrick's Day parade in the city of Clare in Clare County. Can’t get much more Irish than that! Took a few shots to test the job I did on the film advance timing, and it tested out to work like new. Now I have to set focus since that was a little off also. Some pictures showed the focus to be not exact. Here is the camera and some pictures it took. Oh, it was very hard getting the camera into my jeans pocket and almost impossible getting it out. So, it can't be recommended as a pocket P&S camera.

Okay, so I cheated a little by throwing my Medalist into this "folding camera" thread, but its lens does retract towards its body at least. I'll make up for that today with a REAL folding camera. I went out yesterday to test the focus on a just repair Medalist and decided to give my vintage Kodak Monitor Six-20 some long overdue exercise. Folks here might not believe this, but this lens is as good, if not better, than the f2.8 Xenotar on my Rolleiflex. Here are a couple of shots from it. Oh, the second to last one is a digi of breakfast this morning. Thinking of you, Andy!

Hp5+ at ISO400 developed in Pyrocat-HDC 4ml: 4ml:1000ml 20C for 21 minutes, minimal agitation. Meter for average scene brightness. Upon looking at the negatives I think it would have been better to give the film an EI 0f 800 and develop for slightly less time. Still, the negatives are near excellent with no problems for scanning or wet printing. Later in the day, I'm going to make a digi 13" X 19" print of the house to see how it comes out.

Hey John, nice images.
Yes, the Kodak Anastigmat Special lenses are absolutely superb. I have a Special Six-20 with the Special lens, and it performs as well as any other 6x6 or 6x9 lens I have available to me. Here's a good example of its performance.

Yes, I remember seeing that one and it's absolutely beautiful. My shots were the best I could do this time of year in Michigan. Everything is pretty dull right now until things start greening up. Kodak did a really great job on lens design and choice of materials back in the 30's to the 60's. Even some of their cheaper camera lenses were pretty darn good, but their top-of-the-line Ektar and Anastigmat "Special" lenses were supreme. I'm going to do that 13X19 print after dinner tonight. I just might make several prints. I'll do one as a straight print, one as a real tight crop and one from my 2.8 Rollei that I shot at the same exact time. Curious to compare the results from those. I'll post them probably sometime tomorrow.

Kodak Vollenda 620 with Schneider f4.5 Xenar lens. Rollei RPX developed in PMK.
View it big here.

Paul,
Seeing this photo and knowing the Volenda 620 that took it got me thinking that I had a Volenda 620 tucked away in my collection somewhere. After digging around, I found the camera I was thinking of. It turns out that it was not a Volenda 620 at all, but a Wirgin Auta 120 dual format camera. I'm posting pictures of it and I think you'll see why I thought I had a Volenda 620 tucked away. Also, I've done searches all over, and I can't find an example of the Wirgin Auta with this lens and shutter combination. I do know that Wirgin cameras often had many different versions of the same model of cameras, but this one puzzles me. Anyone here ever see the Auta with the lens/shutter combo Kodak Anistigmat 105 cm f4.5 in Cumpur with flash sync?

John,
I have certainly seen Wirgin Autas with a Compur shutter on it, but never one branded Kodak, with a Kodak Anastigmat lens. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that the lens/shutter is a modification done to the camera, not original. As the 105mm focal length is native to this camera model, it's entirely possible that someone could swap out another shutter with a 105mm Anastigmat lens in it, and it would work fine. With any luck, they took the time to calibrate the focus and add/subtract shims to correct any differences.
