John,
I have certainly seen Wirgin Autas with a Compur shutter on it, but never one branded Kodak, with a Kodak Anastigmat lens. If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that the lens/shutter is a modification done to the camera, not original. As the 105mm focal length is native to this camera model, it's entirely possible that someone could swap out another shutter with a 105mm Anastigmat lens in it, and it would work fine. With any luck, they took the time to calibrate the focus and add/subtract shims to correct any differences.
That's my thinking, too. I don't really care, since it's not pristine and more of a "user" camera. I wondered the same thing when it came to accurate focus, so after checking it all out for function I collimated the lens, and it's right on the money as far as focusing at infinity. I just put a roll of HP5+ in it and will see how it goes. Three things that I really don't care for on this Wirgin Auta it the smallish viewfinder, uses a Leica style cable release(shutter not threaded for cable release) and the blasted ruby-red windows on the back are much darker than other cameras like this. With the numbers on the newer 120 backing paper being lighter than the old style paper was, the numbers are nearly impossible to see. If this turns out to be as good as your Volenda, as far as picture quality goes, I might just remove the ruby-red plastic insert since it has a very good sliding mask system anyway. I'll post the results here after I develop and scan the HP5+.
