Received from hwv "Einsteinhaus Caputh". A very nice print with all tones covered. I had to search it up to find out what Einsteinhaus Caputh was. Quite interesting. Thank you.

I also received hwv's "Einsteinhaus Caputh". Great shadow play, full range of tones, and nicely printed. Thanks Heinz-Willi!

BRNO" from Ajven is interesting on several levels: (1) I initially thought it was Prague (visited many years ago), (2) the paper used has a very yellow/red paper base, (3) the juxtaposition of developed and undeveloped land. When I received this card my thoughts went to "it is underfixed". But the underlying tones of the print have not changed, so my observation is incorrect. What is interesting is that the paper tone changes with the quality of light in which the print is viewed.

I am glad you liked the postcard and that the photo paper caught your attention. Fomabrom N Chamois is a relatively new paper that Foma Bohemia launched last year. I bought it in the summer and experimented with several motifs to see which would 'suit' this paper best. Originally, I had chosen a completely different picture for PCX66 and even have 20 postcards ready on classic Fomabrom paper. However, during the final comparison, I decided that the view of the cathedral—which forms the typical silhouette when arriving in Brno from the south and is even depicted on the Czech 10 CZK coin—would be better for this exchange round. Especially with the foreground where the new city center is being intensively developed; soon, new glass buildings will completely obstruct this view. By next year, this sight will be a thing of the past.

HI all-

A couple of cards arrived recently, and interestingly both with historical themes. I received BRNO from Ajven which documents modern progress intersecting with the city’s industrial past. Also, I really like that paper — it has a beautiful surface.

Hwv sent Einsteinhaus Caputh which is nice bit of symmetry between light and shadow taken (if I understand correctly) at Albert Einstein’s former residence in that city. I find it interesting to reflect on how the peacefulness of the scene belies how events that followed that moment in history changed the world in so many ways.

Thank you!

There is a tiny slip of paper in the envelope with the information. No one has discovered it so that's a failure. Send the card when you're bored with it. ☺️
Tidying my desk today, as instructed by Mrs R (!) and yes, I found a tiny bit of paper in the corner, caught up amongst the 35mm film box ends with "metadata" written on them. "Plato Iowa USA / Hassy 80mm / Kentmere 200 / XTOL". Got there in the end, thanks!

I received two nice printed cards from the end of last month to this month.
@ajven:The industrial remains are captured from an objective, distant angle. If this were done on pure white photographic paper, it would have a cool impression like a construction photograph, but the warm colors of the chamois photographic paper successfully convey a sense of story. I was also happy to receive the Osaka Kansai Expo stamps that were attached to the card.
@mshchem:A nicely designed egg sales sign. This is a common sight on rural roads in Japan too. Here, it is often dried fish, fruits and vegetables. Ilford MG IV RC paper repels ink and bleeds, making it difficult to endorse.
