Me too: I found Oxleyroad's wonderful card yesterday in my letterbox. I had it sometime that testing a new camera gave beautiful shots. Have joy with your Leica!

Thanks Uwe. My father and grandfather always wanted a leica. When I showed my father my new toy he asked how long before he could borrow it for a few years!

Your postcard arrived on Saturday, I only started to go through my mailfrom the week this evening.

Thanks for sharing your story behind the image.

I have a similar Russian 35mm panoramic camera, next gen I think, the Horizon S203. Quite a plastic camera, but has served me well over the last 10 or so years

This week I received

Oxleyroad's cactii balls, lovely textures on the plants!

astroclimb's Winter time. Love the point of view, the image is puzzling at first sight.

I have almost all my cards printed, but will be on a trip to Dublin next week, so expect a few more days delay.

Thanks!

I also received Oxleyroad's cactii balls (that sounds like it could have more than one meaning!) :surprised:

And anikin's unicorn - I read about it here, yet it was nothing like I was expecting. Very cool.

I just (less than 24 hours ago) finished developing the 130 rolls I had from my summer and November trips - I went in full marathon mode and developed 62 rolls in 7 days to finish them off! So I have a lot to choose from to print for this exchange, it's just choosing which one(s) to go with. I will be printing as soon as I get back to Kyoto (currently in Tokyo for the next 10 days, should provide even more photographic fodder....)

My cards (with one exception) are in the hands of the US Postal Services.

So far I have received two fascinating cards:

piu58 - “Breakfast Place Pittier Works” - Great use of a panoramic format. The subject “turns” just as its products once did.

Oxleyroad - “Cacti Balls - Belle Isle Conservatory” - Intriguing - and very prickly! Hope you are enjoying your new digs. Not to mention your proximity to US photographic material sources.

I’m looking forward to the rest!

Thanks everyone for participating.

Thanks everyone.

New digs are proving great. Especially the access to so much more photographic materials without the shipping costs I was used to. It is a year this month.

I have received two more fascinating cards:

astroclimb - “Wintertime near Chester, England” - Intriguing composition which makes nice use of the tension between the static and motion. The point of view is great, as is the dark print.

anikin - “The Unicorn” - What a neat surprise! Whimsical (it is, after all, a Unicorn) and quite beautiful. And the background details are so interesting.

I’m looking forward to the rest!

Thanks everyone for participating.

I got astroclimb's card today as well, and am equally taken with the composition.

Two more cards made it to my house, both with vertical view axis:

Wintertime near Chester by astroclimb. Rather unusual point of view looking down on people feeding birds. I love the sharp separation of two worlds: dry land where people roam, and water for birds  Thank you Todd!

"Hallelujah" from Matt King. This is really cool shot looking up to tree crowns. Your choice of printing full frame really highlights the symmentry of the picture. Nice job!

Eugene.

Hay Matt, got your card today, those treetops are awesome, double awesome since you sent two of 'em. The prospective is as if you are lying down on the ground looking up.

Thanks Mike.

Did you get two addressed cards, or two cards stuck together, with address and postage on one????

No, they weren't stuck together and each has postage marks and both have my address. Maybe the postcard machine has a little glitch.

Two more arrived in my letterbox. astroclimb's Winter time and Mattking's trees. Both of them required a lot of study by the house members here at Emmons Ave.

Thanks

So far I've received three or, actually, four...

two copies of MattKing's nice trees arrived just yesterday. We just had the pleasure of walking amongst some redwoods, your photo captures their immensity wonderfully.

thank you Oxleyroad for the cacti, nice to hear of your new digs and surely like the composition.

and Eugene's (Anikin) unicorn is most unique, thanks for the hand written note of explanation that came along with it. I can't say I yet understand the details of the process, but I need not, it is most enjoyable.

Two more card arrived in Los Altos. The first from astroclimb of a people feeding the gulls in Chester, England. Nicely composed with two different subject divided by the walkway. Well done. The other is from MattKing. Thus far I have only received one card from Matt. I like the perspective of this photo. Reminds me how small man is compared to these giants.

Regards,
Darwin

Well I don't know how duplicate cards got sent out, and I daren't complain about the work of the person who helped attach the labels, because she is my darling wife!

It probably has something to do with the fact that I was trying to use up the left over parts of partially used sheets of laser printer address labels.

I just hope all the duplicates went to USA ($0.35) addresses and not International ($1.20) ones.

For those of you on the west coast of the US, you might find the information about where my card was shot (Redwood Park) to be quite interesting: http://www.surrey.ca/culture-recreation/2187.aspx

From that site:

Location
17900 - 20 Avenue, Surrey BC

About Redwood Park
Redwood Park is large beautiful forested park in South Surrey. The park is a legacy of one of Surrey's early pioneer's, David Brown, who in 1893 gave the property to his twin sons, David and Peter. The Brown twins spent much of their life traveling the world collecting the seeds and saplings of exotic tree species. The Brown's planted dozens of different tree species throughout the property, creating a diverse arboretum.

David and Peter lived on the property all their lives, becoming more solitary and eccentric. Eventually, they built a 2-story treehouse, which they lived in for many years. It burned down more than once, but it has been rebuilt and is still a feature of the park.

Today, the Park encompasses an area of over 45 hectares (113 acres) of diverse mature forest. You'll find upwards of 50 different species of trees, including European Beech, English Walnut, Chinese Chestnut and of course Redwood (Giant Sequoia), which is the largest tree species on earth. Meet the trees of Redwood Park using the Redwood Park Tree Guide, and learn about 24 of the key species in the park.
