spent a wonderful day in the darkroom.... finished printing and toning... will mail out this week...
i used moersch copper toner for the 1st time - very interesting, but very precise! it doesn't do well with multiple cards intermittently overlapping each other in the tray and 10 seconds variation in time in the soup really does make a difference in tone!
they'll be on their way shortly...
next i'll finally spend some time with the cards i've rec'd and haven't had time to really look at! getting close to getting caught up!

This week I received three cards:
- "Anger angel II" from David. The story is amazing, and I like the composition.
- "Teasel" from drpsilver. I love the somewhat high contrast, as well as the textures. That's also a good demo tha a pretty old camera and a standard lens can do marvels (I still have my AE1P and still use it from time to time)
- a view from Rocky Mountain National Park from Ataim I guess this is a contact from 4x5, or a very limited enlargement, but the amazing amount of details is great!

Anakin--"the greatest happiness"--you're braver than me. Didn't one of those things in a golfer in Florida? Is
Vyshemirsky--"Rainy Scotland"--very nice. I don't know how you guys do color when I can hardly do black and white.
Varya--" Building An Interociter"-- I think I saw this series in the gallery. This one really made me laugh because I love the detail in your mouth/hearing protection. Is that your addition already come that way? Nice and sharp throughout.
Jimbop-- "Brothers In Arms"--fantastic, the one on the right is staring directly at you and the eyes of tack sharp. This would be a heck of a portrait home so that the eyes were right at your eye level, nice and large.
TXFZ1--"Angry Angel II"-- nice tones, great story all of detail in the ring is captured so the lighting was just right. Should I infer anything relative to the one star on the Angels Brown?
Mark Sauerwald-- "Mission San Juan Bautisita"--beautiful. Your note said it was shot with a 210 mm lens, so I assume 4x5 or so, given that it's a sharp as can be from the front of the bell to the statue at the end of the walkway. Great job.
Todd Haynes--"Shrine of Children's Shoes"--amazing find. I have to ask what is the story behind the shoes on the wall. I also like the detail in the stained-glass window. It looks like it's indoors looking out through the window, and I just about never get a picture like that without the light thru the window blowing out all highlights. Very nice.

Saw your question about "...the story behind the shoes on the wall." from a week or so ago but I didn't know the story until yesterday. We were playing "tourist" with old friends who used to live here in NM and are here from their current home in Missouri. They'd not been to the Santuario so we went and I asked the priest who was there about the story. The photo was taken in the Santo Nino chapel. Santo Nino is said to wander the night looking for the poor and sick who he can help. He often wears out his shoes during these travels so people leave children's shoes, he is a child after all, for him to have. Much like at the Santuario itself, I expect people leave shoes to ask for intercession or as thanks for answered prayers.
Indeed, it is looking from inside at the window surrounded by the shoes. It was a tough one for me to print without blowing out the highlights, as you say, had to compromise a bit. I guess it worked out ok.
NM is a great place to be a tourist, even after living here almost 30 years.

"Who cleaned the beach for Ansel" by Bob Slaughter. Just beautiful textures of water. That buoy looks like a crayon. It adds some wonderful point of interest to the photo.
"Building and Interocitor" by Varyav. Great macro with a lot of visual interest. One of those photos that you can spend a lot of time studying. Great idea and execution!
"Peace fountain" by JimO. Great composition! The copper toning adds a nice antique feel to the shot.
"Cascade, 4098" by Ryan. Looks like a fun place to exercise. I agree, it beats indoor gym any time! I like it how you managed to get great detail in both sky and the foreground.
"Snake Dance" by mjs. Superb sharpness and clarity! And of course, a very interesting subject. That reminds me, it's been ages since we've been to a pow wow. If I don't forget, we'll go this summer!
"Clouds, Germany 1993" by Jaime Torres / Patrick Olsen. Neat, almost abstract shot of golden clouds. And the presentation is what really makes this card work. Beautiful!
"Connecticut River Bridge" by Brian. We've got a very similar bridge here in Portland, so my first thought was - "is it from somebody from Oregon?" Great shot! By the way, I went to college in CT, so this photo immediately reminded me of my favorite park in CT - Gilette Castle. Which is incidentally also located on the CT river. Thank you!
"Turn of the Screw" By Matt King. Ok, Matt, you've got me here. It is a great abstract, but really, what am I looking at? There's got to be a great story behind it! Your description really piqued my interest...
And my absolute favorite from this round is a portrait by Vyshemirsky. Just wow! Amazing, almost 3D portrait in golden light. Superb is an understatement!

It is a great, big, old brass ship's propeller (aka "screw"), without the cap (??) that goes on the centre core.
Mine finally sent this week!
