Hi,
received 4 cards this week!

From Crispin, a really cool postcard that is also a series of photos. Love it, really well composed - especially like the beachviews in the lower half!
hwv: great use of symmetry, very pleasing to look at it. good eye! and well printed..
Laurent: good composition that draws me into the image, and also well printed!
MattKing: nice use of DOF, i like the zebra-look of the tree! Interesting to see so many different papers, this one looks great selenium toned!

Greetings, gurkenprinz

Great card from crispinuk - Crispin's golf camera is a wonderful gadget and he's got a great eye for quirky ways to use it. Lovely card from Laurent too. Nice textures and beautiful tonality.

I received three more cards !

Crispin's "Slices of Southsea". Very interesting, the montage works very well !

Andrew Carson's "Oxleyroad". I love closeups, and this one is very nice. Components reuse is something I did also when I was younger (to build new circuits which would usually not work ;-) ), and I always wondered what photographs they could make... Now I know, and this is very interesting !

rai's "Parents room", very intriguing view with a pinhole, and homebrew colour !

Another card today, from Laurent.a detailed close up of a beautifully inscribed sewing machine ,done very well and just the right amount of depth of field.Thank you Laurent.

I’ve received another card since I last commented:

Laurent - "Lily Pond" - A really fascinating view of the surface of a pond (or is it the results of a flood?) with an almost surreal background - beautifully printed too! Somehow, I think I must have a different card than others have received

8 down, 20 to go

Thanks to everyone for participating.

PS The comments about my card are appreciated. One of the great things about these exchanges is how much they remind me of how much variety there is in this world. The tree pictured in my card is a birch tree, and while I like their distinctive patterned white bark, I must admit they are fairly common around here and I take them for granted. The comments about the “zebra” tree remind me how special (and photogenic?) they actually are.

Thanks for your comments !

Matt : the photograph was made at a "festival des Jardins", a yearly event that happens near my place (in Chaumont sur Loire) and where invited artists (from the average Joe to the architect/renown artist) are offered a place to build a garden. There is a new theme every year, and the projects are usually quite good. This one was very good, and it really struck me when I discovered it. The dark mirror is made of coloured water, and the whole place looks unreal.

The sewing machine come from my great-grand'ma, and is now my mother's. Each time I see it, it reminds me of the diffeence between what was built at this time and what we are offered now. The DOF was quite a challenge !

Yesterday I got a nice card from Rüdiger "rst" which organizes this exchange. It is an old building with open windows but bricked doors. Thank you. Fine image!

04 Dec 2010

The card from Crispin was confusing at first glance, but then I realized that it was compose of 8 images. I asked myself "How did he match these photos so well?" Then I read the back of the card and all become clear. This "golf camera" is really cool! It certainly has lots of creative possibilities as this card demonstrates. Thanks for the cool card! (I also like the Pooh stamp.)

Regards,
Darwin

Thanks from me too!:D

I was very happy to receive hwv's card of the windows and bricked-up doors today. No details (keeping with the minimalist theme?) ;-) but I like the simple geometry and framing of this shot.
Interesting stamp too (which is true of several cards this round!). Cheers.

Thanks- the house belongs to some very old family friends and I've been going there since I was born, and photographing there for nearly 30 years.

BlackDog - Got your Bathroom postcard yesterday. A postcard sent with the input from the whole family.

Great.

Hi,
I received three more last week:

rai:beautiful distorted pinhole picture on Agfa portrait 160. I like it very much. Maybe I should use my capuccino can cam again
Crispin:another experimental one. It transports the mood of a holiday at the seaside. I love it.
Valerie:house for little birds, rising to the center of the skys. Nice frame. Just browsed to wikipedia to see what's it's name in german. Now I'm listening to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:tongue:rogne-subis-001.ogg while viewing the picture and it looks even better.

I was very happy to receive hwv's card of the windows and bricked-up doors today. No details ...
O.K., here are the details, as far as I remember (I was too lazy to write this on every card again:whistling:):
I took this picture when working on the theme "door, gates or areaways". I am member of a local amateur photography group where we meet to discuss taken pictures from time to time. I just took a picture of a rather conventional areaway when I turned around ans saw the bricked doors at the other side of the street.
I changed the lens of my habla to 150mm sonar with kenko 2x teleconverter and put the camera onto the tripod. I had to wait a few minutes to get the moment when no car was in the way.

hwv
What else to say? I have to fetch my lab log:
Film developed in march 2010, Neopan Acros 120, Rodinal 1+50, 12 minutes at 20°.
Paper used is Ilford, Developer is N113 (Calbe Fotoimpex) Grade 3, 8 sec.

I think it will please me more when lith printed. Maybe I will give it a try when pce21 is over and show it in the gallery.

Received Rai's interesting colour pinhole shot of his parents room. The colours and distortion really add to this photo.

Also received Laurent's card, an image full of reflections and so many other things to draw the eye. The glass structure has a nice centering affect with all the busy things around it.

OK, I am one of the late people... But I got them all in the mail! I did the international today and the U.S. last week.

I will post about what I have got in a day or so.

Thanks!

Got hwv post card today,Two doors which have been recovered with stucco.Kind of odd and interesting composition with the windows above. Thanks Heinz.

My cards were sent a while back...I know not everyone comments on the cards, so if you haven't received mine by now, please let me know. I still have a couple left over that I could send in replacement.

Cheers.
