Mike the date is correct, it is the fifth day of the first month of two thousand and eleven, which in numerals is written as 5/1/11, or 05/01/2011, or 05-01-2011.

The picture was taken this year whilst away on our summer holidays, which happen to be right now, as in January.

The next round, round 22, I will be sending a print that was taken on the 1/1/11, or 1-1-11, or 01/01/2011, or 01-01-2011, you have been warned!

Interesting how the people from the USA appear to have difficulty with the date format I have used. From what I understand of my travels to various countries, only the USA and the Philippines use the same format, the rest of the world overwhelmingly use the date format I use, whilst some countries have a third format.

Canada, probably due to their closeness the the USA, use both my method and the USA method, I believe. Possibly if they date in English it could often be the USA format but in French their other format.

Then there is the ISO date format, but that is a kettle of fish well left alone:laugh:

Received Mick Fagans card last week. Absolutely love it. Great shot, great print, that's all I can say. Thanks, Mick.

I hope there will be some more "surprise" round 21 cards in the mail, I've received 19 out of 25 (or 26, I'm not sure whether I counted my own card) so far.

Picture of the Albert Memorial arrived yesterday from Stan160. Thanks for this brought back memories of when I lived in London 17 years ago.

Boy, have I ever been remiss!

I’ve received another 13 cards since I last commented:

Allen Friday - “Steam Locomotive” - a beautiful shot, very well printed (the smoke looks three dimensional
crispinuk - “Slices of Southsea” - what a neat camera, and a fascinating montage as a result
djhopscotch - “Ceiling Detail” - I too am always fascinated to look up - well seen!
DrZish - “Old Quarry” - an interesting approach - the rocks are massive
gordrob - “2816" - fascinating detail, and the print shines
hwv - “Doors?” - a nicely seen detail - its so mysterious
markrewald - “Playa del Carmen” - nicely represented tones and texture
Mick Fagan - “Lake Cawndilla Kinchega NP” - otherworldly, and well printed
Rob Skeoch - “Old Car” - very atmospheric image, and well printed on intriguing new Ilford paper
rst - “Alte Brücke” - a wonderfully atmospheric pinhole image
rtbadman - “Reflection” - really enjoy the mixing of the various frames
Tim Gray - “NFL” - does a great job of communicating how crowded the venue is, and well printed too
Valerie - “Purple Mountain House” - intriguing - I wonder where my Brownie Starmatic is?

21 down, 7 to go

By my records, I’m still waiting for cards from amiett, andrewkirkby, Black Dog, Eric Mac, Fleath, Pete H and Samad Asad. If I’m mistaken, my apologies.

Thanks to everyone for participating.

Hmmm...I've sent all my round 21 cards-looks like one didn't make it so I'll send a replacement.

Jake:

Like as not it is my fault, and in fact it is somewhere in improperly filed mail.

Don't worry about preparing and sending an extra.

Although I always like getting them

I too received Fleath's "Hard Rubbish" postcard today - intriguing, and a really nice print.

The caption information shocked me a bit though, when I read:

"The stuff people throw away, it's nuts. Hasselblad 500 C/M, 80/2.8 T* Planar C. ...."

For a moment, I thought he had found a Hasselblad in amongst the rubbish

22 down, one gone astray, 5 to go.

I too received Fleath's card. Well worth the wait, it's a beauty. Great shot, great print. And... very nice paper as well. I was just trying to standardise on fewer types of paper, but seeing this makes me want to try out some Fomabrom 112...

Thanks!

Me too received 'Hard Rubbish' by Fleath the other day. It is just my sort of picture and well suited to the paper. Nice one.

Long over due update. Cards received in no special order:
Rob Skeoch's car on the prairies on the wonderful new Ilford paper.
kraker's "At the Fair" Lot's of fuzzy friends looking for a new home.
rst's bridge pinhole. Who needs a load of fancy glass anyway?
Wayne Frederick's castle ruins. Great point of view, I wonder what stories this castle could tell.
Mark Rewald's statue from Mexico. A lovely warm paper really works with this subject.
Aron's "I Forgot" A picture withs questions, why in the runner running, where does that ladder go, and just what did the sign writer want to say.
rtbadman's reflections. Interesting lines, real and abstract at the same time.
Judith's poles with snow hats. Likely melted by now. Great texture in the snow.
DrZish's rocks. Who piled them up? Who lives in the darkness?
jeffmerlet's Busy Bees at the Beach. A candid shot with lots going one. I wonder what the central girl is doing, look ready to pounce on something.
Tim Gray's flag with thousands of people. Nice of them all to stand for you to take the shot.
gordrob's 2816 steam engine. Always room for another train. In fact I almost used a train image for my card, still might in a future round.
djhopscotch's ceiling details. Complete with a ghost, hmmm
Mike Fagan's drowned tree. I like this image, hope you didn't get you feet wet.
Fleath's "Hard Rubbish" just arrived. A nice garden seat waiting by the road. Maybe looking for a new home?

That's about it for round 21, still a handful outstanding but a great bunch of images.

Well, I'm back in Japan and had a few cards waiting for me when I got home:

Stan160's Albert Memorial, which I know I must have seen while in London, but for the life of me can't remember it. Thanks for the reminder.
gordrob's 2816: a shining detail of an old classic.
Fleath's Hard Rubbish: I too, think you should've taken the chair. And I love the toning of the print. Cheers.

I'm still missing five from this round but that's not bad considering some of the previous rounds. Hopefully I'll be back in round 23!
