I received a couple of postcards today, as heralded by the kids upon my arrival here at home: "You got postcards . . ."

Denis's 'Badlands'. This is the first color postcard I have received that was printed by the member. In my younger days I always dreamed of the road trip that never took shape. I still have a bit of wanderlust. But I am forced to live vicariously through Denis and others. I love the delicacy of this print. I can hear the wind whispering through the tall prairie grass while standing before such grandieur. I have always loved the imagery of the American West.

And William's 'Hotrodding'. I love how the component of the subject that does the most work is the only portion that is in focus. Great panning and selective focus has been used here and the proof is on the postcard.

Both great prints.

Chris, I wish I could take credit for all the printing but I got involved in a move from Maryland back to Florida and worked with a lab on the printing. My negative was right on, but getting the color in the final prints was still difficult even with the labs help. Next exchange I'll be back to B&W when I get all my gear back from Maryland. I hope I didn't cheat too much. This was my first exchange. I found the process of going through my negatives and selecting one the most time consuming part of the process. I also thought it might be nice to be the last person the send out cards so I could include individual comments keyed to the contents of the cards I received from others, but then if everyone did the same thing no cards would ever be mailed.

I've received 3 cards: La Maccina; sunset and Storm; Barn, Curry Lane, Napa. They are all wonderful. I love all the different subjects that get covered in these exchanges! I have not had a chance to get in the darkroom yet but have some film that is yet to be developed that will hopefully have my image on it for the exchange. I have managed to get the flu. Of course they just started giving the flu shot at work today!!! A little late for me! Oh well. Hoping to feel better soon so I can get some printing done. Lori

I just received a lovely card from polyglot. A bouquet. I love the sharpness of the flowers in the center and how it fades out of focus. Very lovely image. Sorry i didn't say much about the other images I got. I was still sort of out of it yesterday! Feeling much better today. Christopher Walrath's Sunset and Storm was awesome. I haven't tried doing any sunsets before. This gives me inspiration to try! OMU's La Maccina was very well seen. A lot of action around the car to tell the story but the car is the subject. Like it! Another fantastic image from DRPSILVER this round. The 1st self storage Place is printed very well. I like the reflection in the dirty widows.

Two more this week:
dprsilver's Barn - California must be awash with derelict buildings
polygot's Ghost Gums - The lighting on the tree trunks makes them almost jump out of the picture.

Royal Mail looks like it is going to be hit by a three day strike next week, just as I was going to get the last batch posted...

My postcards (excluding one with an address issue waiting to be resolved) are in the mail now.

So far I have received La Maccina. Great machine and a nice camera to make the photo with, right?

I am patiently waiting by the mailbox.

Thanks OMU for your postcard La Maccina. That front fender (?) sure is interesting. I bet I could do a lot of damage with that if I was behind the wheel!

I hope to start printing my cards sometime in the next week or two. I've had absolutely no time to do any darkroom work over the past two months...but November looks like I'll have some breathing room. Now, just to choose what image I want to send out this round...

A few cards arrived last week; that got me motivated to get printing last night. They are now all mailed after being addresed over the lunch hour.

I liked the image, so after the mass production, I went off and printed it to a 11x14 size on one of my last sheets of Ektalure. Then I was reminded why I don't use that stuff so often late in the evening. After the fix 2, wash, hca, wash, drying blotter roll find and load, I rolled into bed at 1:30, and the alarm went off at 6:30.

I hope this is why my brain did not click that there was no round 18 label template on the computer, when I was making up my r19 label template at 7:30 before regular office work began. Now it all makes sense - this should have been labelled as R18 after all. My brain failure not yours. Disregard the part of my label that says round 19....I am a bit ahead of the times this round.

Hi
I have received tree cards the last week:
Dennis: Your beautiful photo from Badlands has made it all the way to Norway. Your card is the only one in color this time. PS love my M6ttl.

Metro-Matt: Sorry, no reindeer steak to day. But last weekend we had some nice lobster and with wine. Btw, realy a nice photo you sent. The siluet is amazing.

Jerevan: Those rain drops on the grass are gorgeous. Haven’t seen the other versions, but this one is beautiful.

To all of you that have written so nicely of my photo from the car in Rom.
It's inspiring.
Your comments stimulate me to work harder in the darkroom.

I got Jim Axelsson's (Jerevan) postcard today. My daughter, upon viewing the card, stated to my wife 'Look, Mom. Dad likes looking at grass and so does him.'

I love the dark print as well, Jim. I think it's a great choice for interpretation. I might even take you up on a personal exchange sometime.

cw: what was the 5x7 you received? I'm pretty sure I put my name and "polyglot" on the back of them all; it'd be funny if yours was the one I forgot

It's a roadster with motion blur on seemingly everything but the engine, and now that i actually take a look at it, it does have your name on it.

Got two cards today. Mike's time travelling Round 19 postcard of the Chicago River. There's a lot of detail here. I'm going to be spending a lot of time looking at this one with the loupe. And a '48 Lincoln, presumably from Brian? Nice border. Well printed. The guys at the auto parts store where I work are gonna love it. So do I.

Well, it's been a slow week for me. Only one card came through the mail -- meltronic's scenic view from Mount Bonnel -- and a little invasion of privacy perhaps?

I did my postcards on Halloween (good time to be in the darkroom) -- it's the first time I've been in the darkroom since May (!). Felt good to be back. I did three different images this time around -- they all went out today.

It's time to clear-out the backlog of postcard comments ...

The card from OMU is interesting. I like to perspective that you took in making this photograph.
The print from Christopher Walrath is well done. You succeeded at something I have not been able to do - photograph sunsets in b&w well.
A really nice color print from Denis K. This reminded me of my childhood trip through the South Dakota Badlands.
The image from polyglot is very well composed. The bird is not a major part of the image, but is so necessary to the photograph. This is one of my favorite prints this round.
Mike Wilde's photograph of Chicago is filled with subtle tonalities. I really like the paper that Mike used. Sadly it is all gone. The matte paper surface gives some "depth" to the print.

Thanks to all for such wonderful photographs.

Regards,
Darwin

Wirelessly posted (BBBold: BlackBerry9000/4.6.0.297 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

He already admitted to the fact, but I like 'Time Travelling Photographer' better. It has a nice ring to it. ;p
