Another arrival -- what I assume to be c.w.'s card from South Dakota -- kind of dark and moody. I like it. Reminds me a little bit of the landscape around here (although not quite as flat).

Card #3 arrived today. From Darwin (drpsilver) this time. A photo from his self storage Place. Seems as he should store the place inside a barn for the winter.... :D
Also got Laurents card the other day. First time ever I have got mail from France. The language sounds great, but I'm glad the "language of your photo" is international.

Cloudy with a high of 56 with the possibility of our first Fall Freeze tonight.. In Memphis?

I've received 4 photographs so far. Barry's beautiful and vertigo inducing waterfall, Laurents machinery study (love the tones...) and Matt's Japanese snack stand (got me craving Samosas now). Not sure who the fourth is from (I think it's from c.w?) an excellent landscape from South Dakota .

Thanks to all, the four so far show perfectly why this exchange is so fun, all superb photography and so diverse!

Interesting to see what other people do with the cards they receive. Today I picked up a battered antique box that I think was a sewing box in a previous life. Gathered up all the cards I received in the couple of early rounds I took part in - think I'm going to needs a bigger box by the end of this round...

First card arrived today from Darwin (drpsilver). Nice print of a derelict barn. Good to get the ball rolling!

Received three more myself. Darwin's 'Barn'. I love the tones and flow of such a harsh subject matter. Well printed IMHO. Magne's 'The Machine'. My Great Grandmother still referred to cars as 'Machines' when she was alive. Just enough of a hint of secondary subject matter to hint as to why it is there. Great composition. And a third landscape from some photographer in Delaware . . . No, I just wanted a mailed copy of my own card to place with the others I have and will receive.

Thanks again, Rudy, for keeping this going strong.

Darwin's "The first self-storage place" arrived today. Reminds me a lot of the old buildings my (slowly) dying hometown. The broken windows are what do it for me in this image. Thanks Darwin.

I've received 5 great cards so far:
- Barry's waterfall: great perspective and the story really adds to it
- Matthew's samosa stall: good capture of the girl's expression, and I'm going to have to try some TMX soon after seeing this.
- A beautiful shot of clouds over an escarpment in South Dakota
- Laurent's diesel decanter: love how the glossiness of the engine block comes through in a silver print
- Darwin's barn: I would so very much like to see an enlarged print and find out what the 4x5 is capable of, even if my wallet is shouting "no!"

Posted mine all off last Friday, which means they should start arriving various places in about 3 days.

Have yet to try a sunset in B&W - but this has truly inspired me!
Keep them rolling in please!

Mine should be out in the post this week - apologies for the delay.

The first of this round OMU's La Maccina arrived today. Tomorrow, the postal service goes on strike, so anything sent to the UK could be delayed for some time.

Looking back on it, it might have been a good idea to sign my name - if anyone is wondering, this is the card I sent:

Except not a horrible scan of a quickie contact sheet.

I've been out of town, but today sorting through the mail i found cards from drpsilver and polyglot (i think). One a nice 4x5 contact print from Delta 100, the other a 5x7 from some 35mm Pan-F. Unfortunately the 5x7 got a little beat up in the mail and has sort of a crease in it, but it still looks great.

Nice couple of 5x7s arrived today -- a nice play of light and shadow from a row of arches by T.Wilson and "Mosman Moon" by polygot (though I'm not exactly sure where the moon is supposed to be ). I like the contrast between the black sail and the white rooftops -- the shape of the blackness makes it look like something being unzipped.

Rachelle,

The Arches is my shot. Upon reflection, I wish I would have written my username on them as well.

cw: what was the 5x7 you received? I'm pretty sure I put my name and "polyglot" on the back of them all; it'd be funny if yours was the one I forgot
mooseontheloose: it's 2mm diameter, about a thumb's-width about the left roof peak.

Got two more yesterday:
- Tommy's (photomem?) play of light through the arches
- omu's La Maccina

Received Polyglot's flowers yesterday. I like the very selective focus, and the tones !

Paul, know how long the strike will last.

This particular strike should be over by the weekend, but the dispute continues. There could be more strikes, and what with Christmas coming up, there will be further delays as they sort through the resulting backlog.

I also got the card from polyglot today. I got "Gnost Gums", so it seems as William has taken the job to send out different cards.
"Gnost Gums" is a beautiful card of what probably is gum trees? - taken by the night. Beautiful soft light on the trees. Thanks!
