That's hot! I'm surprised I haven't read anything in the (international) news about forest fires in Australia this year.
A friend of my daughter's is a forest firefighter married to an Australian. She works here in our summer, down under during your summer.

I believe I'm short only 3 postcards of the 30 I'm supposed to receive, and I think all of those missing have mentioned they will be late.

Eric Mac's icicles arrived here today. Great patterns. I'll trade you for some of our ice if you like.

I've received 40 / 46 cards now.

Nearly my full quota for this round - only 2 to go!

Looking forward to Round 16 - will get into the darkroom once the mercury dips below its current 45C.

Certainly makes short work of the print washing cycle, Sydney is expected to reach 45 this Sunday.
I hope you have a cool change soon.

45 degrees in Australia... wow I went and checked out a waterfall Thursday morning and it was -20... I don't think I've ever felt 45.... in fact I can hardly remember 30.

Rob, 4 weeks ago whilst in very southern Germany, actually climbing the German side of the Alps with Austria, we came across a frozen waterfall.

One could hear the water running underneath, quite interesting. The temperature was about -18ºC down below where we left the vehicle, it was really quite cooler up the slope I don't know just how cool, but face ache from the cold was hurting all of us.

As I write this it is late morning and an official weather station 3klm's away from my place is giving a current reading of 41.2ºC with humidity of 10%, wind gusts have already exceeded 60 Km/h. We are headed for 44-45ºC today.

Interesting extremes to live through, inside a very short time frame.

Last week as an experiment, we cooked (fried) some eggs on the mudguard of a trailer parked in the shade. We weren't sure it was going to be hot enough in indirect sunlight, it was. They tasted nice between two pieces of bread. We cleaned the guard first with a rag, so all possible detrimental health concerns were allayed :D

It's definitely heading toward 45°c here, and gusting 54km/h WNW — and that's near the blissful (usually) coast!!
Cameras in wine cooler (!) to chill out.

Kate, I just got your card yesterday. A beautiful shot. Good that you wrote on the back which way is up, although it looks interesting regardless!

Thanks a lot, it is much appreciated!

Don't know what's going on Kate, I'm just up the island and haven't recieved your card yet. The snails are moving particularly slowly over the mountain I guess!

Sly,
Yours should be arriving in the next day or so as I didn't mail eveything at the same time. I knew yours once mailed would not take very long.
