Got it! On my laptop, and thanks to the change vs viewing angle (normally a nuisance) there is better separation in the foreground image. Maybe also on a wall with proper oblique lighting from above, it looks better than on the Web

Thanks. It's in a substantial chunk of old growth forest that's now a municipal park, and the trailhead is about a 15 minute walk from our home. Lucky me.

This section burned up a long time ago (there are a few really old charred cedar snags still standing close by) so these trees are probably middle aged as far as Western Hemlock go.

In fall the undergrowth starts turning yellow...something I look forward to every year.
