What's going on with those vertical patterns in the water? There doesn't seem to be anything in the scene that would cause reflections like this, and neither do they look like anything which could be underneath the water...

They are reeds. I don't think I would have made the image if they weren't there. I liked how they look dark when the background reflection is light and light when the background reflection is dark.

Ah I did wonder if it could be reeds, but somehow they still look like a continuous reflection. Interesting effect anyway!

This might be a bit of over sharing. I'm sure everyone has similar stories. These are very old images but are a good example of the overlooked / revisited negative project most of the uploaded images represent. Winter Sunrise, Mono Lake is an example of the initial approach not working. I originally saw it as high key. The original printing approach for Loch Awe was over done and needed to be taken back a touch. Maybe another touch. With Dune/Nude, I shot variations, picked the one I liked best, and put the others in a box. The left is the one I went with. The one on the right was "rediscovered" about 6 months ago. What if the rejected images have something different to offer? Many of the versions from the project and in many cases the image, have only been seen by a few people before now.
