My experience: after fixing, 3 minutes of washing. 3 minutes in a solution of 5 g/l of sodium carbonate. 15 minutes of normal washing. Photoflo and go.

Yes, but if the film is pink after washing, I refix for as long as 10 minutes, wash and use PhotoFlo.

So what about a not so pink cast? I've got some Ultrafine Extreme that is sort of purple. It is definitely a different hue than other films. Two days sitting in the sun have shown that this will not bleach out.

So I assume the base material has been deliberately dyed this color? Why? Maybe it won't interfere with printing but it makes it more difficult to view the negative. Not as bad as the orange mask on C41, but nothing is that bad.

That is what a re-fix and a HCA bath and a re-wash are for.

Well, this thread is not about the blue or in your case "purple" cast.

This is the antistatic material incorporated into the support to prevent or decrease static electricity. It cannot be removed. It does no harm.

OTOH, in the case of this film, it could also be that part of the AH layer remains, but this is not very probably.

Fogged? How?

As for washing method, the continuous wash recommended by many is the best.

Sorry PE,

I think having been away from the thread and come back to it, I was thinking this was a not fully fixed issue rather than a residual fixer issue. So I was thinking if the film weren't fully fixed it would fog over time. My apologies.

WHAT ME WORRY

Since this thread is six pages long and keeps veering off into what people do to remove the stain, I thought a friendly reminder that the dyes will not harm film nor the processing solutions was in order.
