New Reflex camera

To hang from the neck, the camera will need its half-case. No strap lungs on the body. Same as with Voigtländer Bessamatic.

AND THIS IS A PRICING MUCH TO EXPENSIVE TO HIPSTERS.............

By the way Theo Sulphate - sad to hear about it is discontinued.
I own one Bessa R2 in special grey Edition.
It is very smart in comparison to Leica III
"LUFTWAFFE" from its price!
(nearly the same color).
But I am realy glad lenses are not discontinued.
And this camera is also to MUCH special to hipsters.

I applaud anyone who wants to have a go. Celebrate the opportunity. It costs nothing to follow the journey of the camera to the market. The market will then decide its success or not.
 
I'm following Reflex with great interest and I hope success for them, but I'm surprised by those show disdain for the endeavor. Yes, there are plenty of 30-50 year old SLR cameras out there - cheap and plentiful. But there are also plenty of cars from the 1950's in Cuba...that doesn't make them great cars. Look at all of the advances that modern digital photography enjoy. I would love to have those features on a film camera. Here's one example; at 55 years old, my vision sucks. I would love a film SLR with autofocus - modern, fast, accurate autofocus - not the hit-n-miss autofocus of the 1980's.

If Reflex is going to offer a camera with similar features of those I have from the '70's & 80's - then I say "why bother". However, if their goal is to bring film photography up to current standards, then I'm all in.

Here's an SLR concept: how about a SLR that can take digital photos and film, a D/A-SLR.

Have a look at the Nikon F6. The combination of features, built quality, reliability, backwards compatibility, availability of lenses (old and new), accessories, service and price is unbeatable. You can get it new.
 
We currently live in the post-apocalyptic times where professional film cameras abound on the used market. We are not yet to the point where the supply dries up but this time will eventually come. What will happen then? If no film camera manufacturer emerges by then, it will kill film for good.
 
Indeed. New cameras face the (some might call it unfair) competition of abundant used pro gear available at very low price. A new equivalent to a $200 used F3 would cost at least $1000, which not everyone is willing to spend. The demise of the Voigtlanders, Zeiss Ikon ZM, Rolleiflex FX etc proves it, To be successful, a new camera created today must have the same level of quality as the former pro bodies at a fraction of the cost, which is an impossible problem to solve from an engineering perspective.
I too wish success to JCH and others who engage on this difficult path.
 
I've looked through this thread, and I might have missed it, but have found no information about or pictures of this camera. Does a prototype actually exist?

They have been posting photos on Instagram. The quality of the photos have improved greatly in the last few weeks. Early examples had light leak issues and shutter problems. Recent photos look great.
 
why do we need a new camera
on the market now, the marketplace
s saturated with old and used and NIB cameras
and lenses from mini format to ULF.
they shouldn't be wasting their efforts
unless they are just selling it to me,

coloried on my back.
so its either raman or new camera..
maybe ill wait until next week
to get the radioactive
golden yellow green
and radioactive
electric midnight blue dyes injected.

Why are the Cosina-based Bessa type cameras no longer being produced? Lack of demand?

Although the Bessaflex and faux Voigtländer cameras made by Cosina were attractive to me, I never bought any because I objected to their use of the noble Voigtländer/Bessa- names (which they bought the rights to). Had they simply called it a Cosina, I would've bought it.

This Reflex camera in M42 mount seems promising. If it's totally mechanical, I'll likely buy one.

Since when is Voigtländer noble? He stole lens designs and put his name on them!

I'm tempted, because I own two very nice SMC-Takumars and a CZJ Flektogon being out of use - at least until now.
