through some recent developer testing, I came across the Ilford FP4+/Rodinal combination again and fell in love with it again. I think it's an ideal go-to combination even for 35mm.
Thank you for posting. This sounds interesting as I have also come to enjoy FP4+ more and more. So far I have had good results with my old replenished Xtol but perhaps Rodinal can give even sharper grain. What combinations of time/concentration/agitation/temperature have you found to be the best ?

Ah yes...

...the infamous siren song of the magic bullet.

That magnificent combination of light, film, chemical and paper that seem forever just out of reach of us mere mortals.

Kind of an opportune post for me.
I used up the last of my ID-11, and have resigned myself to going with Rodinal or Ilford HC1-10.....i have both.
I have had Good/Great results with ID-11, but the appeal of the other two are their "Ease Of Use". I will keep my fingers crossed.
So that was 1:25 with the Rodinal.?

That's been one of my favorite combinations for many years, provided there's enough light (or a flash) available: EI 100, 1:49 Rodinal, 11 mins. at 70 degrees.

Why? I never used the combination so have no basis to go off of. I'm just curious.

Thank you for sharing! At what EI? Condenser of diffusion enlarger? Did you try to compare it with 1:50 dilution. I used 1:25 just for processing lith films
EI125 with a diffusion enlarger.only tried it at 1+25.

You're way overdue. There's actually a Church of Rodinal and it's easy to belong. Is it for everything? No, but it is very good at what it does.

I've been developing film for 50+ years, never tried Rodinal. Is it time? I have the film.
It can be fun to try new/old things.
That would be the reason to do so.
