New half frame camera from Agfaphoto

I can see why the half-frame versions of these cameras would be popular -- the price of film is cut in half, and the LOMO effects are double those of the full-frame version.

So when I want LOMO, I'll stick with my TELEPATHY half-frame.

What LOMO effects?

I think I'll stick with my SUPERHEADZ TELEPATHY halr-frame with a 22mm wide-angle lens, f-stops of f8.5 & f11, and a hot shoe for my flash -- for complete auto-exposure control -- when I want LOMO shots.

That camera takes terrible pics from the examples I've seen online. I'd much prefer the Agfa which is available new, and at a fraction of the cost.

The results will be the same as all the other 31mm fixed focus built in flash cameras out there, reskinned in whoever is trying to sell it.

But really, why don't you pick one up anyway? They're like $20.

Not necessarily. Though the image will be enlarged more the film will also be placed (presumably) in the center of the lens coverage. Any badly deteriorated performance of the lens at the corners won't appear (or appear as much) on the half frame.

Good point, but I seriously doubt that the 22mm lens on my Telepathy would come close to full-frame capability.

You missed my entire point. I stated "when I want LOMO effects" I'll use my Telepathy. The lens on the Telepathy is entirely different from the Kodak H35.

Ok, so you can still get the Agfa or Kodak 1/2 frame if you want decent shots w/in their exposure envelope.

The funny thing is these cameras with their fixed exposure of 1/120 & f10 make them more suitable to experienced photogs who can push/pull film developing to broaden their use.

The Kodak doesn't look at all like the Agfa, though. The distance between the viewfinder and the flash is different, the size of the plastic around the lens is different, the overall shape is different, the Agfa has a sliding flash button, looks like the Kodak has it on the lens bezel. And the Kodak has a 22mm, f9.5 lens. (The Agfa has a ... whatever)

When I want good half-frame results, I'll use my Agat 18 -- which offers control of the shutter and aperture, has a focusing lens, and a hot shoe.

Those are just cosmetic things. The main specced difference is the nice way you turn on the flash w the Kodak. But for there to be this sudden influx, at the same time, of all these look-a-like cameras? Made by the one same mfg.

The lens is different on the 1/2 frame vs the FF. But I'm pretty sure the Agfa is the same as the Kodak - and 22mm-ish. As for 9.5? 9.5, 10 - no real difference.

As for the FF plastic Kodak - it too has a 31mm lens. Just like the FF Agfa. And Ilford. And Harmon. Coincidence? Methinksnot.

Maybe. Even if they are, they can be made to different quality levels. The Kodak may be made to higher spec than these Agfa ones. The factories will make things as good as you tell them to.

There are so many versions of those simple half-frame & full frame cameras -- Escura SNAP Half, Kodak H23, Agfaphoto Half Frame, SUPERHEADZ, etc. The factory obviously is set up to make changes quickly, as requested. The guts are all the same.

Thanks for sending that. While it doesn't resolve the 50mm f5.6 dilemma, it does show its ubiquity. I like the green, but not enough to buy one. My Telepathy fills the bill.

Yes, we know. These are all cheap plastic cameras made by one mfg. easy to find anywhere.

Okay, if the scene is well-focused, then you don't need to focus the lens. Got it.
