Think of the two curves drawn within the same coordinate system. Then add them up graphically.

I had no idea that two emulsions of different sensitivities are common on 400 speed films...
From the internet:

Multi-layer Classics are based on a multilayer technology developed in the 1950’s and are continually being improved. Light sensitive silver and bromides are combined in the emulsion. The film is coated with two layers of light sensitive material, generally a high-speed emulsion coated over slow speed emulsion. The “fast” 400 ISO films were created with this double emulsion formula. Kodak Tri-X, known now as 400TX, is the best known of this type of film. Ilford HP5 Plus (Hyper- sensitive Panchromatic) and FP4 Plus (Fine Grain Pan- chromatic) are exceptional films in this classic film category. Arista EDU films available exclusively from Freestyle are also in this category. Foma also produces three films in this category: Fomapan 100 CLASSIC, Fomapan 200 CREATIVE and Fomapan 400 ACTION. And finally, Fuji Neopan 400.

I was an addict of the old Bergger 200 8x10 sheet film, but now use mostly TMY400. I certainly hope this new film will be available in the US
to test, and at more realistic current pricing than TMY. The published curve on Facebook is rather choppy and hard to read with respect to the subtleties of the curve. I'm always interested in how the toe kicks off.

The idea of doing so in colour films is within a complete different concept.

I contacted Beau Photo in Vancouver and they said that they won't be carrying it but may in the future if the dollar improves. Hopefully it'll be available in the States.
 
Damn.
I just got all excited when I went to Goldstreet and saw 25 sheets of 8x10 for only $29, I nearly had a heart attack!

Until I realised that that's just their cotton 320 paper and not the new 400 film. sigh.
Looks like I'll just have to be patient until they've got it in stock with a price next to it.
 
I'm a bit confused, I followed the two links supplied earlier on in this thread, one gives a price of 40.90 Euros the other gives a price of 69 Euros, does anyone know which is the correct price?

There is a near 70% price increase from one to the other, give or take. At 40.9 Euros it is quite affordable and I was thinking of two boxes, at 69 Euros it comes to approximately $100 AUD, which is quite expensive.

At the first link you can choose an option at "Format des plan-films" (beneath the price). Each choice will change the price:

4x5 - 25 sheets = E 40.90
4x5 - 50 sheets = E 69.00
5x7 - 25 sheets = E 69.90
8x10 - 25 sheets = E 139.90
 
Bert, many thanks. I didn't see that drop down menu, although if I had fiddled long enough I probably would have found it.

At 69 Euros for 50 sheets that works out to $96.18 AUD at today's rates, starting to look better.

Freight though could be a killer, maybe I'll try and find someone to team up with, Marc are you there?

I wonder if the 50 sheet box is in fact 2 x 25 sheet packets inside one box?

Ilford make their 100 sheet boxes with 4 x 25 sheet packets inside, a great way to save on film purchases.
