National PE-2002 flash

Hello!

I am wondering if someone knows how to use National PE-2002 flash in manual way.
It seems to be possible to do...

I am going to use this flash on Pentax MX.

This is one of the most basic autoexposure flashes,
However its manual is not the best. Once you understood its operation you should be able to use most of its kind.

We got countless of such threads. Ask again if you got a specific problem.

I don't really understand the way of using as automatic... So I just simply use it as manual, and it is fine.
It was amazing that still working good !

Set the auto/manual switch to auto, by this uncovering the sensor.
Set your film speed at the dial.
Read the aperture in the red zone.
Set that aperture at your lens.

That's it.

Your flash offers only one aperture for autoexposure operation. More advanced models offer several to choose and set.
With your model the maximum subject distance in autoexposure mode is 3.5m, whatever aperture value is offered.

this flash is not able to change the volume of lighting, isn't it? That makes me confused about 2 options of auto and manual..

ISO200 /f8/3.5Meter, that's how I should read??

Any autexposure flash does change the output, that is the idea of autoexposure.
The moment enough lighting time for correct expoure has expired, the flash is cut off.

Yes, output is controlled by the duration of the flash.
In manual mode the duration is at maximum length.

Some advanced flashes offer in manual mode to choose out of several outputs (1/2, 1/4, 1/8 ....). Typically this is achieved by cutting off the flash after the resp. duration.


As indicated, your model is the most basic autoexposure one, More advanced models got several auto-apertures, several output settings in manual mode, swiveling reflector, communication with the camera.
