Fancy a "gentle introduction" to APUG walk-talk-and-gawks?
Another Big Day Out in the Great Otway National Park is coming up this Saturday.
But it's not a gentlemanly stroll in the sun along the beach like last weekend.
Beautiful rainforest, old growth trees, a tall, multi-tiered waterfall, an army of leeches lying in wait and mild temperatures (albeit with a tad amount of rain). Perfect walking.

Aimed at neither MF or LF, small format or wide — anything comes and goes — like Wyno's 20kg critical mass of Tachihara view camera!

Sweet.

I grew up with nature and places like that, so I'll be right at home. One time it rained at Minyon falls for a week, then I went camping there the day after, and there were leeches doing their flip flop walk on the grass even... every square inch there was a leech.. not kidding... the only way to keep them out of the tent was to waste an entire large saxa salt container by putting a circle of salt around the tent.. didnt stop me bleeding all through the tent from having one on the middle of my back :/

Also got one under my big toe nail from hiking to the top of a mountain in thongs... that actually bloody hurts a lot! >.< And was hard to get off.

Anyway details? Cost? Gotta make sure I got $ left over from the moving and initial rent and all

Won't cost you anything except getting to my place by around 7.30 - 8 am. Just bring your camera and film and a tripod (very necessaary). The address is 17 Ottoman Court, St Albans PARK, Geelong (NOT the Melbourne St Albans). If you need instruction on how to get there ring me on 0422 737 673. We will go from my place to Gary's place and pick him up, coz it's on the way.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Let's make this a Big BIG BIGGER DAY OUT. It's fun to meet APUGers not seen before. Bring the lot.

Wondering how many darned cars we are going to see on this trip. Can't recall the amount of space available.
Who else has a 4WD beside Steve?

Ha! Wrong. It'll cost you something: a litre of blood from the First Advance Scout Leech Battalion. Nobody enters that forest without making a contribution to the ecosystem.

Uh-oh, I've just realised we've hijacked Mick's Melbourne Outing in August thread (!)
Move bits to (there was a url link here which no longer exists)...

hehe, sorry Mick! Sorry your thread got hijacked by the leech obsessed Otway'ers, and also sorry I didn't make it on Saturday. I haven't been spending much time online lately, and when I remembered (last week I think it was) that the outing was coming up, I'd made plans to get away with my lady, so, you know, priorities... I didn't say mine, but priorities none the less...

At least the hi-jack is for a good cause.

Anyway this thread has served it's purpose, the outing has happened, we went to a beach and exposed film on exposed rocks, some of us were exposed to some water as it came over the rocks, or up fissure like structures, some even went as far to expose their camera to water.

I'm not naming names, but you know who you are, I wouldn't wish to expose you!

Mick.

Here's one of Christine's colour action pics from the day (Mamiya 645 Pro, Ektar 100, f16(ish) at 1/125th)

Marc!

Waiting for the sun, which did arrive, looks like Shane in the background trying to catch some water.

Umm, looks like it's been flipped, my film holders slide in from the right side last time I looked.:whistling:

Developed my film this evening, looks like I have a couple of reasonable sheets to play with on the weekend.

munz6869 love the shine you have captured on the rock. I have may panoramas developed, nothing screams out to me. But my mum really likes them.

not sure what's the issue but my scanner seems to be introducing large amounts of grain... most pics of the roll of film I've developed look terrible. Here's one that the grain enhances (I think)

One would think that nobody took any images, or at least were to embarrassed to show them. So to break the ice ( well except for Nigel & Christine) I'll show something.
Some of the pinhole image scans can be seen here - http://shane2758.fotopic.net/p66888775.html -just scroll pass the couple of random images.

Keeping with Apug guidelines, a scan of the print as close as I can get in, improvement comments welcome.

Love that opening pic of the trestle bridge Shane, it makes a great subject for the Ortho Lith film, I really like the way it's come out. Great tones to make a period style portrait with.

Here's that group photo I promised. It seems that the shutter didn't trip for the shot I tried with Mick and I included, so here's one without us.
