For what it's worth, I think Saturday was the better day by far. Early Sunday didn't look anything like early Saturday, although it did get a bit better around 1000hrs. We decided to head for cape Liptrap, which we did in pouring rain for most of the way. Got to the lighthouse park and the sun came out, very clear air. Rain was coming so we headed back to the camper, lunched, then went back to the lighthouse and environs, finally got the shot of the lighthouse I wanted on my third visit.
Well I was happily surprised with the turn-up on Saturday, it certainly was interesting to see the differing techniques people adopted in getting something. With the tide out, it certainly made life easier for clambering over and around the rocks. My next trip down there will be to get that little waterfall just around the corner of the main rocky outcrop we were clambering over.
With the tide half in after lunch at the trestle bridge, the water underneath made for the odd picturesque setting for more than a few of us. I tried my Horizon out with a few bent bridges with some angled panorama frames, hopefully at least one frame has something worth printing.
What was most interesting was the sight of more than a few of us with different formats and/or systems; nice to be in company of people with tastes similar to my own. Very good to actually see different tripods, and get feedback from users of the various materials and types available.
Perhaps another outing like this in April could be the go. By then the weather will have cooled, the festive season well over and it would be before the onslaught of really cool weather arrives. It would also be a long enough time between drinks, so that we don't get jaded.
Mick.
