She doesn't mind me having a shower, in fact she implores me sometimes. :D

If I'm not there, just walk through to the caravan park and look for the ute, I'll be in the back.

Yeah, but light winds, which means bellows won't catch too much and start sailing!

Was wondering this morning about the prospect of some sort of sunset light down Kilcunda way. That was until Shane caught up with me by email and said we'd hang around there for the evening light. I'm very agreeable to that. I can remember quite a good sunset a long time ago from either an unusual rock formation at Kilcunda or one that is similar at/near Inverloch (Australia Rock??) — can't match memory to place.

I'm planning some mono work this outing (Neopan ACROS 100), after I finish the extant roll of Velvia which contains my little chestnuts: Yannathan Cascades and Yannathan Falls. My imagination tells me evening light could be made interesting with tungsten film...

A family duty has popped up at the last moment, so looks like I won't make it this time. I hope you all have a great day; I know where I'd rather be. See you all next time.

Cheers, Peter.

Meeting between 9-10am at "Just prior to entering Kilcunda itself from Melbourne, and on the ocean side, is a car park to a beach with wonderful rock formations and an entry to a good surf beach, think waves, seaweed and rocks, this is where I propose to spend some time taking pictures as I have in the past."

The meeting point seems to be located at the end of the George Bass Coastal Walk. You find more information about this Walk here.

I try to be there at 9am.

In. Coming with SMB+++
Earlier communication from Wyno today on unrelated matters mentions he won't be on this outing.

Another dropout. A cold keeps me relatively inactive. The irony is that I will be at Philip Island helping my partner pack up the house, but I'm not up to wandering around Kilcunda. Sorry everyone.

Wasn't that a big surprise in terms of the weather! A couple of light showers, then warm enough to blow a fuse. Great post-mortem in the cafe afterward with a couple of folks pigging out on death by chocolate! Great to catch up with everybody again and see the big variety of cameras in use from pinholes to Horizons and everything in between.

Thanks to Shane for the ripping good drive and the unexpected inspection of Phillip Island. I was pretty well buggered too after getting home at 10pm (I got lost in Point Cook looking for the "golden arches"...).

I was sorry I couldn't stay around for the sunset. I left for home at about 1:30PM when the rest of you were inspecting the environs of the trestle bridge, arriving home at about 4:30. As I expected, if I had stayed another hour I wouldn't have got home until 6PM as the traffic was getting heavy from about 3PM. I could have stayed intil 7 or 8PM but I would have been knackered driving home alone. Not a situation I allow myself.
Anyway. Thanks, Mick for the venue suggestion. It worked out well. I burned 6 sheets of 5x4 color and many more on the little camera. I'll post a group shot soon.

For what it's worth, I think Saturday was the better day by far. Early Sunday didn't look anything like early Saturday, although it did get a bit better around 1000hrs. We decided to head for cape Liptrap, which we did in pouring rain for most of the way. Got to the lighthouse park and the sun came out, very clear air. Rain was coming so we headed back to the camper, lunched, then went back to the lighthouse and environs, finally got the shot of the lighthouse I wanted on my third visit.

Well I was happily surprised with the turn-up on Saturday, it certainly was interesting to see the differing techniques people adopted in getting something. With the tide out, it certainly made life easier for clambering over and around the rocks. My next trip down there will be to get that little waterfall just around the corner of the main rocky outcrop we were clambering over.

With the tide half in after lunch at the trestle bridge, the water underneath made for the odd picturesque setting for more than a few of us. I tried my Horizon out with a few bent bridges with some angled panorama frames, hopefully at least one frame has something worth printing.

What was most interesting was the sight of more than a few of us with different formats and/or systems; nice to be in company of people with tastes similar to my own. Very good to actually see different tripods, and get feedback from users of the various materials and types available.

Perhaps another outing like this in April could be the go. By then the weather will have cooled, the festive season well over and it would be before the onslaught of really cool weather arrives. It would also be a long enough time between drinks, so that we don't get jaded.

We also very much enjoyed the meeting. Shelley Beach was an excellent suggestion. Thanks, Mick!
On Sunday, we walked the George Bass Coastal Walk in both directions. Highly recommended as well.
