The name that my parents gave me all those years ago is Peter, and I'm quite looking forward to matching real people to all the APUG names.

Hi, w9cae, I fully agree about the sun being crap later in the morning, but the general consensus for a meeting time was for later. I'm sure between us we can give you some help on metering.

By the way, it would be helpful if we knew the real names of some people with APUG names, as one could come across as a bit of a tool asking a complete stranger "are you w9cae?"

Well, isn't that how we all first met each other last year, by poking around the dark with strange monikers!?

You can call me either Poisson Du Jour (phwa/-song daz'ur) or Gary/Garyh/Gabby ... Mumsy doesn't care what I'm called, "so long as it is nice!"

I'm going to drag Gary out of bed early and aim to get there between 10.00 and 10.30. You listening Gary? I should be round at your place by about 8.45 or 9.00.
Mike

Hahaha, you want it when!?

( Oh, <*grumble, cuss*>, alright, yes, just for you... )

Huh—!? "Listening" !?—Four days in the slammer for you with loss of access to the Tachihara!

I'm too poopered after a wine and dine tonight with assorted Drs, transplant recipients, donors, government bigwigs and a sprinkling of late-finishing bemused bowlers, and even rude newspaper photographers poking their Canons in my face — well really!? Howzabouts we get Calamity Shane to explain what Brutus is? It is after all CS (SMBooth) who brought Brutus safely down from Mount Feathertop <<fill in rest of story here...>.

'Night.

I might get there yet (later). Kev, I'll give you a ring if I do.

Cheers, Nige

Okay, everybody. Just confirming that we are meeting at the cafe (Observatory Cafe) which is sort of at the north western edge of the gardens. We will start meeting at about 9.30 and will wait until 10.30. Please feel free to PM me your mobile number if you will be coming later, or if you think you may be late, and then we can make sure we find you.

I don't want to confuse anyone but there are two cafes: the "Observatory Cafe" and "The Terrace". I only bring this up because both have been mentioned in this thread. From what I can see (using the map I linked earlier) only "The Terrace" is actually in the garden while the "Observatory Cafe" is at its boundaries. I don't care where we meet but we all should meet at the same cafe  Kevin, the initiator, announced the Observatory as the meeting point, fine with me. See you there.

I'm glad we clarified the location, because I have always thought [since my parents first took me there 60 years ago, and I have photos to prove it ] that the cafe by the lake is THE Botanic Gardens cafe.

Okay, Joachim did originally suggest The Terrace, but then I mentioned the Observatory Cafe, and as suggested by Joachim, as I am the original poster, I will make the executive decision that we meet at The Observatory Cafe. This is right over on the gardens boundary at the western side, close to the Shrine Of Remembrance.
